Most have loaner guns to use. They will pick a gun you are comfortable with, that way you don't buy the wrong gun, wether it be too big, too small, wrong caliber for you etc. etc.

I sometimes see how long I can put them on hold. Every few minutes I get back to them and as they start their spiel I say "sorry got another call coming in" put them on hold again.
