She's there, arrived at our local hospital this afternoon. Doing well, just needs to build up her strength slowly and take it easy. It will be three months before her breastbone is knitted back together again.

Yes, mum went home on wednesday. She's glad to be home but not allowed to do too much. We all spent the day with her yesterday and cooked her lunch, a friend has taken lunch into her today. I'm about to head in there now with tomorrows lunch and make her a sandwich for tonights tea. All go here at the mo! :wah:

Have you looked at any course material since all this blew up?

They've said all along the tumour was benign, it was 10cm and came away complete, that seemed to be the worry, bits of it could have detached and got into the bloodstream causing clots.

Three months minimum for the breast bone to knit back together, her scar looks fantastic, very clean and almost a straight line. Mum just needs to build her strength back up and in the meantime is not allowed to do too much with her arms, she has to use her stomach and leg muscles for getting up now. Not allowed to carry any heavy weights at the moment and we're not sure how long for, they don't actually give you a lot of information on discharge which is a bit worrying really.

Have the mentioned physical therapy? I am just so happy she is home and doing better Betty. She's very lucky to have you and family to help her in this time of need. My thoughts and prayers for healing are being sent to your Mum.

Five weeks ago today Mum was on the operating table. She's looking good and chomping at the bit to get back to normal. We're all still calling in daily to do certain bits for her that she can't manage but mostly she's regained her independance at home.

If she wants to go for a walk we still make sure someone is with her, she needs to build up her strength in her legs again.

Hopefully we'll get her six week check up appointment soon, the aftercare from the hospitals has been lousy, we've had to chase up every bit of information

Mum also celebrated her 76th birthday on Monday, had quite a few visitors that day so we took her down to Lamorna Cove on the Tuesday afternoon for tea and cake and a stroll. :-6
