Yuk TMI!!

As for the word 'bonk' it's one of those onomatopeia words isn't it?

'Bonk' is the sound a bat makes when it hits you on the head.!! :-5

Having a bonk is different, I think. (Well, I know it's different) ...........

What I mean is, the noise isn't 'bonk' when you're having a bonk. (unless you fall through the bed or table or wherever you're doing it!!!!!!!)

And 'bonk' means the same wherever you are????? Wow!! That's amazing!!

I did wonder, as I posted that, whether people might think I was. English is a strange language, the flexibility is amazing.

Ive been reading Neffys thread about people being nasty with interest. Some of you know of the trouble I have come across and how evil people can be.To be nasty to someone on a site isn't big....isn't clever......its darn right cowardness. Have a go at someone by all means, face to face but dont come on your pc and start being a bully and saying things about people that are out and out lies. Most of the time this is done through pure jealousy, to get attention, to be the big I am and even for a "laugh". All at somebodys else expence........God how sad is that. Do these people have a life?Do they get there pleasure from hurting others?Ive said it many times before....this machine is a very powerful thing......yes we know its only words on a screen and you can switch off. But even written words from some saddo can hurt and why the hell should we switch off something that most of the time we enjoy. In the "real world" I have walked away from many things that have made me unhappy and I have done it also on this machine. Maybe I shouldn't have.......I dont know but fools have to be treated in the only way they really hate.....to be ignored......its that simple.

Here, here, Carol ! I agree totally. I sincerely hope we haven't jumped out of the frying pan by coming on FG ! Had enough nasty and hurtful trouble on that useless site we escaped from. As somebody said earlier on this thread, these slugs seem to get everywhere ! But at least, hopefully, the moderators are watching points on FG, and I have seen the results of some of their assistance, and that has got to be 100% better policing than on the site we escaped from !

Love, Hugs and Kisses to all my readers hehehehehe - well you gotta smile just a bit aint yer else you'd do the other thing.

Neffy, unfortunately, it's the way you worded the title of the thread. Perhaps it would have been better if you'd added "in the outside world"

As it is, the thread developed into a veritable slanging match, with the subject matter sliding inexorably towards the behaviour of a few Forum Garden members.

It really isn't surprising then that some members, reading all the posts on this thread, thought that the subject was referring to Forum Garden and other similar sites !

I do think it is a lesson to be learned. When you are typing words, the meaning you wish to put across must be made perfectly clear, with no risk of misunderstanding. The use of punctuation marks, I am sure, would help greatly in this regard. Also, as somebody mentioned earlier on this thread, the appropriate use of the 'smileys' would more than clarify the mood of the writer, thus saving once again a misunderstanding.

I have been witness to several 'near misses' in the past, on other sites, certain

misinterpretations that have nearly caused World War III !!!!! Others that have caused friends to fall out. A lot, but not all maybe, of this could have been avoided by being a bit more careful with the words used, and the way they are put down, and of course those little smileys ! pmsl

I think we are all in FG to enjoy ourselves, to make new friends and to indulge in good 'chinwagging'. Some people join FG because they are lonely, some people join because they are mostly house-bound. They come from all walks of life, yes even the aristocracy - but we don't really know who or what, and it matters not.

What does matter is that you enjoy this facility but enjoy it with caution and be aware that not everybody is as straightforward as you may be.

Enjoy your threads and be nice to people, because they may need somebody to be nice to them.

I have seen this forum change since I joined,

i have not experienced any thing bad on FG personally.

but people are nasty to each other where ever they it can be face to face with someone via text message or the internet,

to me this seems a very relaxed forum where you can come and chat and unwind.

love to all my friends on FG :-4

To say the least, this place fasinates me.

I don't get to come often but when I do, there has been a fight, mediation, kisses and hugs all around and everything is hunkey dorey. I never seem to come during any confrontation.

Which is very interesting. I'm lost as to who left, who caused trouble, who threatened whom and who was the first to eat a little crow. I'm amazed that everyone seems to be very forgiving and acts very adult-like by the time I come to a post that started out rather weird.

Frankly, I think it due to Jimbo, YZGI, Spot, Nomad and a few others that tend to cheer up those that are in a bad mood at the time. Cudos to all of you that pitch in and ease a difficult situation back into the place I adore.

We all have our days when we don't especially like the world and start blaming big things on little people in our circle. Call it a sounding board, a batters cage or anything you like, but in the end it seems to come full circle and everything is back to normal.

:yh_hugs and :-4 and :yh_kiss to you all!

Talk about wording a post in a poor way. That big one up there is an example. We're not here to correct people's punctuation, spelling, grammar or make them use dangling participles. There's been enough of that lately. I hate to see the final sentence "be nice to people....." used toward one of the nicest people here.

Well up until the deal with me and Magenta, I was thinking things were okay too, Jimbo. I wasn't feeling any contention. Then after she and I and JD had our issues, it seemed everyone who was secretly at someone else's throat came out of the woodwork. But a lot of that has to do with another forum too. I don't know where it all came from. I see a couple rough spots here today but I think everything will blow over soon. I hope anyway. :) Maybe the planets are out of alignment and we're all just too sensitive right now.

As it is, the thread developed into a veritable slanging match, with the subject matter sliding inexorably towards the behaviour of a few Forum Garden members.

It really isn't surprising then that some members, reading all the posts on this thread, thought that the subject was referring to Forum Garden and other similar sites !

one is

I do think it is a lesson to be learned. When (you are) typing words, the meaning

one wishes

( you wish ) to put across must be made perfectly clear, with no risk of misunderstanding.

They come from all walks of life, yes even the aristocracy - but we don't really know who or what, and it matters not.

one enjoys

What does matter is that (you enjoy ) this facility but enjoy it with caution and be aware that not everybody is as straightforward as you may be.

Everybody enjoy your threads and be nice to people, because they may need somebody to be nice to them.

Neffy, and everybody,

What I have just written is a case in point ! I've just received a PM from Neffy, and I stand rebuked ! Fair enough.

Now if you look at the second paragraph where I say 'you' poor Neffy took it to mean her, that it was personal. Neffy I owe you an apology. I've just read it again as if I was Neffy, and I can see exactly what she means. So if I change that one word to 'one', each time it is mentioned, the whole meaning is changed and it is no longer 'personal'.

I will not pretend that I did this deliberately to demonstrate what I meant in that post, I'm not that clever ! But accidentally it is a first class demonstration of how the typed word can be misinterpretted if not put down correctly !

Just to make it quite clear (in case I've ckufed up again !) from the second paragraph down it is meant for everybody not an individual !!!!

Please everybody, I was only trying to be helpful, and I apologise if I upset others.

Neffy I'm very sorry that I caused you to be upset, it was certainly not intentional chuck. I was only trying to give a possible explanation why some of these mix-ups occur, and boy did I ever do that ! I think foot and shooting come to mind here ! :-5 :o

I hasten to add, that personally I have found that FG is a very good site, and I have only experienced one 'iffy' post directed at somebody else which was dealt with very quickly by one of the moderators !

I have made quite a few new friends on FG and have found that everybody that I've met here is really friendly and easy to talk to - and a lot of you have me in stitches ! Thank you all very much for that :D

what the hell does that mean :wah:

Hahahaha!!!!! I say we need more Spots!! Not rough spots but more Spot!! :D

Prissy igloo girl....well JD says he thinks I'm Miss Prissy and told me that I get under his skin (I'm sure he won't mind me saying this since he already did in public) and Magenta thinks I know nothing about anything outside of America, that I hobble men because they told her they're scared of me due to comments I have supposedly made and that she'd like to see someone witness me stepping outside the igloo I have built around myself.

So..."prissy igloo girl." I am the White Eskimo Princess. :wah:

Like the Foreigner song..."Cold as Ice..."
