See this thread has remained kinda, kinda civil, thank god! Well I am Irish, so thats self explanatory. I have to say I have never had an issue with people's race, because for a start it doesn't mean anything in terms of individuals outside of what you want it to mean yourself. I take people as I find, and I determine what I think about them based on their actions as individuals, not on their hair or skin colour. Human beings are all exactly the same, the differences are cosmetic, and the other differences are cultural or environmental, thats science folks, not political correctness. Of course race will always be an issue because anything that provides people with a sense of identity and differentiation from one another will be an issue, for good or ill, people of consciouses and some level of intelligence should be able to deal with it in a adult manner though. So generally I like all the people, be good to each other people cause all we have is each other, except the green ones, watch out for them, I am not so sure about them ones.

This is troubling me a little: it seems to me that we have gotten so far with the political correctness that in order to avoid being mistaken for promoting "racism" that we no longer celebrate our diversity. Why do we have to pretend we all come from only one culture? There's the human culture of course, but I mean certain undeniable factors thay come to play in each ethnic embrace. I guess in other words I feel almost like we're denying parts of ourselves by saying "we're all one" and "we're all the same" - in many ways we are but in other ways we are different and it's a good thing. I have a Jewish friend who is teaching me the culture she was raised in. I am learning all kinds of fascinating things about hewish culture. I live among American Indians, have grown up among them. I used to be able to ask when I was a kid, why and how they did certain things. I learned a lot. I gained a respect for them in learning some of their ways. My Mexican friends have taught me things as well. But anymore it seems like I am supposed to just see a person with no obvious cultural identity. To me this is a waste. A waste of the potential to learn part of makes people tick. Am I talking out of my hat again or does anyone understand what I'm trying to say?

I don't think thats the case Red, I am a white European, and quite happy to be so, but I also appreciate and am interested in other cultures, without wanting to be part of them. You have a different perspective on this in the states, and what people in the states think to be different cultures we over here all see as part of the same American one (except the Native American one, which is different). But certain people have always tried to claim that people from different races were more violent, stupid, basically inferior to others, thats the nasty side to all of this. I certainly would defend their right to say it, as ignorant as I felt that opinion would be. And I would say it was wrong, and people would jump on me for "judging" someone else. The reason your post offended me, Cher, is because it seemed like yet another "let's jump on [Cinamin] again because she's a bigot!" type of comment. It seemed antagonistic. I just have two questions: If every "black man" you dated did these things, and you seem to believe that its "due to their background" (and Im assuming you mean background as in the color of their skin by what yp posted) why did you continue to date them (black men)? Maybe you should have dated a better "class" of people instead of a different "race"?
