I think its a very valid point about the baggage thing, like many people have said. You tend to get a lot fussier about who you are going to wake up with when you are older, especially once the heavier drinking and partying of younger years passes (well it has for me anyway). I find at this age that its quite hard to really just jump in to something like I used to, mostly because subconsciously I know what its like when it goes wrong, which I suppose is sad in one way, but on the other hand its not something you can really do anything about, as its a survival mechanism.

As for casual sex, thats still fine as far as I'm concerned, but I certainly am not as excited by the idea of sleeping around as I was when I was say, 23, because once you have sort of been around the block you don't have that much to prove to yourself (which is kinda what seems to be going on in our men-heads when we are younger), so its more just something you might engage in if someone really caught your attention physically, and you were up for it that day, basically. The whole sort of going out, running around, trying to meet new people, being all solicitous all seems a bit like hard work nowadays, and a bit boring, (I think a lot of my female single friends feel the same, though they have a slightly different outlook cause of the biological clock thing, which is another reason why people are generally not as promiscuous in their thirties as in their twenties, biology), though its still fun to get yourself out there as well sometimes.

I am quite enjoying my thirties, as I am still young enough to be reasonably attractive and to kinda enjoy the fun of the whole man/woman thing, but I am getting old enough not be completely driven by hormones and libido. As guys get older, they seem to grow up a little (erm kinda), but then at a certain age, we do seem to go mad again, and start chasing young girls, dying our hair, sucking in our tummies, and driving sports cars. I hope that that doesn't happen to me, as it seems a bit pathetic really and hopefully I will be content with whoever I end up with, but you never really know what way you are going to go, do you? Its a bit worrying really.

I think after 22 years, you are allowed to be a bit f-cked off, thats a long time to go without girlie nights I think.

I am going to write them in stone somewhere handy. I will also try not to run off with the au pair or my daughter's best friend, go to nightclubs for 20 year olds and stand in the corner pretending like I dig their godawful music, try and impress 20 year old girls in the hope of a sympathy shag, generally try and be "cool" in any way, or get too crusty about the fact that I will be well past my prime at that stage and leave it too the young fellas. Its the way of life really init?

Diurectic I believe you I reckon that's exactly what hubby does, when he's really concerned etc.

It's 11.30pm here and I'm sat in my Betty Boop pj's relaxing with wine and white chocolate. Bliss. :)

Oh god yeah, hopefully they will have developed more advanced hair technology when I do go bald!!! If not, I can only hope that, if I do go bald, its in a Patrick Stewart way, and not a William Hague way! :wah:  :wah:

Come to think of it, when maybe when I am 56 and my Harley breaks down outside the Bingo hall, a "sympathy" shag won't seem so bad, good lord.

Well I can, but I will sound like Captain O'Picardbally than the dulcet Shakespearean tones of that fella. I would say something like, "just feicking do it lads, roight".

I dunno if that would get you the sympathy shag!!

I wouldn't mind so much cause I would be Captain, and I could vent my sexual frustrations by nuking aliens, its a happy compromise. They are far too peaceful in Star Trek anyway, bloody do-gooders, a few photon torpedoes up the jacksie would sort them aliens out if you ask me, sarky buggers. :wah:

Then all her relatives get mad as you have got her pregnant and you leave and the whole thing desolves into an inter-species war.

Meanwhile back on planet earth..........:wah:

Well, OK, but only the nice-looking, non murderous ones, and I am still nuking their planet afterwards, you can't trust em really, and its best to get all the loose ends tied up.

Ah, you understand me well enough. Though in real life I am quite nice I suppose, and tend not to be quite so completely callous, too soft, thats my problem.

[QUOTE=Hamster;508537]Yeah but in the uniform you get to be a different person!!

Seriously though..I think we could all use a little extra back bone sometimes when it comes to finishing a relationship![/QUOTE

Just to be serious for a minute, thats true enough. Its very hard to end a relationship, even when it has gone very wrong, I know cause I've been there. I had to do that, and it was a very difficult time for me, but in the long run it was far better. Doesn't seem that way at the time though.

I just want to clarify that when Scrat said he goes to "Ballys" thats nothing to do with me, I think it must be a gym in America somewhere. If I opened a gym it would be called "Gallyball-Busters Super-Happy Fun-Gym". :wah:
