Anyone can look at your posts in the BDS thread. In fact, I would think just about everyone has!

But that was then, this is now. Most people are trying to be nice, but I'm sure you can see why some feel the need to be defensive in light of the previous.

What does it mean to 'try' to be nice?:)

Call me Anthrax? Continue the harrassment from the previous thread?

Defending my friend against continuing false accusations and the mistreatment continues?

My gripe was with Paul. He made the claims without proof. Other slanderers gathered round and sent me disgusting PM's. I was called Jives without proof.

Proven guilty without proof? Nice "try" to be nice here...

....and you say you're on the defensive?

Obviously FG holds a facination for other Forum users who grow tired of their own. Seems some just keep coming back time and time again, I would have thought a good "Christian Forum" like FG would have proven much to boring the first time around. I guess we are far more engrossing than the forums from which these folks come from.

Remember you always have the option to leave if we aren't your style.

I suspect far more accusations of trollery are made than can be substantiated by any reasonable definition of the idea.

Oh dear...

"I suspect far more accusations of trollery are made than can be substantiated by any reasonable definition of the idea."

I suspect X. That seems simple enough. It seems to some extent probable to me that X is true. So, what's X?

Y, by any reasonable definition of the words used to describe Y. So, what's Y?

"far more accusations of trollery are made than can be substantiated".

How about if we paraphrase it?

A lot more accusations of Z are made than can be proved to be true.

Where Z is trollery. Trolling. Performing the actions of a troll.

A lot more people are accused of being trolls than act like trolls, so long as you really mean trolls and not, for example, say, angry people having a fight.

Most people accused of trolling are actually doing something entirely different and have been misunderstood by people who don't really stop and consider what a troll is, who haven't read a sensible definition or who have forgotten it in the heat of the moment.

I certainly have no aversion to being spotted for who and what I am. I am a ranter, and on the odd occasion, a raver. I have been labeled a flamer, and once or twice.. the "C" word *gasp!*

I came here with the sole intention of figuring out what my mates were on about at RR. I've been very quiet in all of this, and have simply taken time to read the threads that I've been linked to...

I have this nasty habit of giving my opinion whether anyone wants it or not, so here I go:

Spot expected a mass "dog pile" from ranters. I fail to see why this was your expectation, sir. Of course you have been witness to some fairly muddled in-fighting amongst the members at RR, and in fact, have jumped right into the fray. However, I should think that you would know that we have a tendency to make up our own minds about things, rather than being spoon-fed popular opinion.

Eloise, I can understand your anger at your shoddy treatment, and the treatment of your friend. It seems to me, that if one wishes to fit in here, one must conform to the socially acceptable behavior of the members here. I do that IRL. I come to forums, to discuss widely varied, and often irritating, closed minded opinions of people who, if not for the relative anonimity of the 'net, would otherwise hold their tongues. "bad words" do not offend, or shock me. Racism does not shock me. I'm not afraid to hear someone's opinion simply because it's the polar opposite of what we call "normal", "acceptable", or "politically correct".

For the rest of you, The thought that we are here to 'troll' you is more laughable than you can possibly know. Paranoid much? I would wager that there are a few who signed up with the thought of having a bit of fun, and more who signed up just so they can understand why Eloise is ranting about some other forum.

Personally Eloise, I see very little difference between what was done to you and your friend, and the myriad of times that some poor slob has been accused of being TWISM or Xishi, over at RR. The only real difference that I see, is that these people seem to really care whether you are a returning member or not.

In closing, I would like to point out that this is not a forum raid. No RR member that I have seen has even half heartedly attempted to flame any FG member. What do you people think Ranters are?? Brawl-Hall?

Trinity, Trixie, Eloise and all the other folks who seem to have suddenly arrived. I haven't really got a clue what's happening. I've been a member here since early this year - I think ForumGarden has about 5000 members. As far as I can see we're a really diverse lot from a number of different cultural backgrounds, religions etc etc. Out of this there seem to be a few members who know what you're all on about, but personally I really don't know. Is it all that important??? We do get lots of visitors and many stay and happily contribute. I hope those of you who genuinely are interested in this Forum do stay around so we can get to know you better.

Were there no attempts at harrassment then I'd say I'd been alarmist but in fact there have been, tidily and unshowily dealt with by admin, so I think the mention of what was possibly on its way was needful. What didn't happen is one side of what started to rumble and then stopped. The headline can read "Small earthquake in FGland, no casualties reported".
