OK, sorry to harp on about your sex life but im intrigued how did you get into all this free love open marriage stuff ,have you practised it before you got married or were you shown the way.How many times have you tested your commitment to each other ?
No problem. I wouldn't call it free love, but whatever you want to call it is ok by me
I had not been in an open relationship before no. I was shown the way. I'd always been strongly against marriage, for the reasons I briefly spoke of earlier in the thread. Most little girls dream about their wedding day, I used to dream about travelling the world.
I met someone who was into open relationships, and he raised it with me very early into our dating life. I was a little sceptical, but thought hell, why not give it a shot. I'm by nature a very open and experimental person. I'm curious about just about everything, so it would have been hard work for me to not explore the idea or to resist peaking inside that world. So... I did.
The common misconception is that people in open marriages/relationships just go out and sleep around willy nilly. Now I'm sure some do, and good for them. For me and my hubby it's a little different to that. We have certain rules and certain things we do to make it work (eg. noone the other person knows, not in our home, and there's a couple more but I don't want to bore you all) ... where was I.... oh. ok. So yeah, we have rules. We don't go to orgies and we're not into free love and sleeping with someone new every other day. In my entire time in this relationship and now marriage, I've exercised the priviledge three times (in 6 years) and I'd be guessing at my husbands adventures. It's also a misconception that our sex life must be crap but... it isn't. :wah:
For me, those three times, one was a one nighter (and he was coincidentally my first time exercising the priviledge), the other two people, were significantly longer. None continue to this day, and the last ended about 6 months ago.
Does that help at all in explaining it?
