Thanx for putting out the welcome mat. The "great mind" addition is what set the hook in my mouth. As the saying goes, "discent is the truest form of patriotism" or something like that. Being strong in one's beliefs is attractive. The tactic of personal destruction sucks.

I wasn't trying to pigeon-hole the thread as far as who might be with what party. I certainly wasn't trying to hit a nerve (left, right or center). To the contrary, I was just trying to bring some facts to the table, instead of emotion. I guess I missed that mark a little, based on some of the intense replies. I appreciate your fair-minded posts. I've found that cooler heads almost always prevail.

I cannot condone or try to defend the local liberals plagiarism. They may be trying to emulate other liberal-types. Like Democrat Senator Joe Biden, a "Hall of Shame Plaiarist," or Al Gore, former Democrat Vice President, or Mark Latham, a Democrat wanna-be. I was really surprised that Martin luther King, Jr. has been listed as a "Hall of Shame Plagiarist" at http://www.waronplagiarism.org/theologyandreligion.htm

The plagiarism was discovered after Kings's death, so no action was taken. If Reverend King could successfully plagiarize during his career, why wouldn't a couple of local liberals in Virginia be able to do the same? In that light, one could see the temptation to plagiarize. I just can't see giving into the temptation as King did and others have done, following his example.

I've got relatives down in Franklin County thats right next to Henry County. They have heard of this thing. They told me both these guys have been involved in public things before down there. Things like this give Virginia a bad reputation. It's no wonder they have a hard time holding onto businesses and jobs down around Martinsville. If they didn't have the speedway, they'd just be a dot on the map like everybody else.

You're right. Such kind of stuff gives us a black eye at the local, regional and national levels.

The one guy, Bill Wyatt, is actually involved in the media. He owns two radio stations and a TV station. Back in the mid-1990's, he had an affair with a co-worker (Ramona Hines), that made national head-lines because the women was represented by attorney Gilbert "Gil" Davis, Paula Jones attorney. Wyatt went on another local TV station and pleaded for help after his legal problems and the local community ponied up $30,000, which Wyatt used to start his media businesses, but has not paid back to this day.

The other guy, Bob Lawson, is a public person as well. It's kind of ironic, but he got most of the public status from calling into local TV and radio talk shows, mostly those run by Bill Wyatt. He has gotten a reputation of being verbally abusive to elected officials and area residents that don't agree with his agenda for the local communities. He got some of his public status by being interviewed and quoted in the Martinsville Bulletin newspaper, the same paper that he got his numerous plagiarized letters to the editor published.

That gives the Martinsville area and Virginia a bad name. I found some other things by internet that are troubling. Remarks by those two guys that are offensive.
