Going out for Sunday Lunch today,, not till around 4pm though:wah:going to a pub near us that does a fabby carvery,,, thing is they do yummy desserts too but im always too full off my meal

A Roasted pork loin, baked potato, fresh garden peas, sliced garden tomatoes and strawberries with a cream cheese dipping sauce. Chocolate cake for dessert.

Later today...Roast Beef, yorkshire pudding, roasties, mash, 2 veg, and then, ( if there is room in my boots, lol) a steamed golden syrup pudding with custard.

Save a place for anyone?..

One of my favourites, jacket potato, cheese and beans, cooked in the oven, or airfryer, with a proper crispy skin.

I'm not sure what I'm still allowed to eat, I appear to have fallen back on salads. I do not prefer salads but they're not entirely full of banned things which might include baked potato. And beans. I'm not sure about cheese but if I'm allowed cheese it would definitely be in a salad.

There are very few users left - occasionally people show up, we're delighted to see you again. ForumGarden occasionally tries new layouts or formats (like discourse) to appeal to Modern People. They seem oblivious. But staying on the Internet is better than closing, it's still there for when people want to catch up.

Are you still a West Londoner? I enjoyed living in London but it's a while ago. Very occasionally I visit.

And, for the record, We dined on some leftover Chicken Parmesan and Noodles for our diner. Daughter takes very good care of me and makes sure I have a good meal every day or so.

Ah.

The potato is a multicellular life-form originating from the New World at the time of Walter Raleigh, who was executed in the Tower of London for still being alive under a Scottish monarch. It is in all probability still to be found in American soils.

Baking is a technique designed to soften and part-digest what otherwise would be a vile comestible. It has the advantage then of accepting sauces, or meltable lactose derivatives which in England would be cheese. Catsup, or "ketchup", is often an accompaniment, or salad cream for those with taste-buds. The potato benefits from an application of salt.

The jacket is the skin in which it grew. The alternative, peeled potato, takes less kindly to baking unless slathered in vegetable oil, at which stage it is served "roast".

The simple answer is it's a large potato, unpeeled and coated in a little oil and sprinkled with salt, baked in the oven for around an hour until the skin crisps up and the inner potato is soft and fluffy. You cut it open and place your favourite filling on the top.

It's really very tasty when done right.

I've been eating those for most of my life.

I just popped a couple in the Oven to go with some Kielbasa for dinner.

When I was a kid it was traditional practice to cook them in the embers of the bonfire on Guy Fawkes' Night. If you wanted to be fancy you could wrap them in foil first.
