Oh Oh....my screen shows page 21, but there's no page 21. Looks like someone got modded.

Oh and BTW - Nomad, you crack me up! "New Toy" indeed!

Hey LC, lately, you've been exposed to WAY too much stress for a person that has a heart condition. Please take it easy for a while. Relax, take a deep breath. That's better. We'd just go to pieces if anything happened to you.

You know...I'm teaching "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy" in my Comm skills class, and we've just seen a good example of the worst kind, but there's also the good kind.

Look how many of us love and support you. Just see how quickly we all jumped to your defense. So instead of dwelling on negative people, think about the positive people in your life.:o

Lady Cop... I've been away for weeks after joining due to our business which consumes most of our lives even when sleeping.. sorry to hear about your situation even moreso that you were stressed to the point of a heart attack.

You commented in one post "this was my calling"... IT STILL IS, but maybe in order to keep doing what you do best you need to just change directions a little so that it does not affect you personally ie., your health and you can continue

to be there for people and do your work, maybe in a different capacity or role, but still continue your calling by moving into the next level. You have the tenacity the

education and skills needed and most definitely the experience - make adjustments to keep you well and safe that's all. Think of it as a journey into a new realm of your calling and go from there.

You need this time to cry and unwind and let loose of all the pent up frustrations and anything else that you've been supressing .. let it out and then get yourself on the mend so you can get back to what you do best...

I've had 3 big curve balls thrown at me during my adult life and each time I felt like it was "the end and total hopelessness" much of what I sense you're feeling like right now... took me a few weeks to get it out of my system and get my head back on straight and then I took the turn to the next path and embarked on that full force like I had done previously... things have a way of working out as long as you are able to be a bit fluid when things change and like taking a fall you get back up,dust yourself off and go right back at it...

My 3rd curve ball was just recent... its not a bad thing but its a little scarey when my husband decided "we" are going to back out of the company, sell this house and move to the middle of bumblefark where we have a small house on the lake and learn to relax and have a life for a change.. I freaked out when he first demanded it... ALL i've ever known are these long stressful days of work with little to no time off and if its not this it's rushing around like a crazy woman taking care of the house, the kids and whatever else needs to be done. Well,.. my kids are all adults and on their own now, the youngest one moved out with boyfriend months ago and has no desire to come back... I've come to a point where I'll be glad to let this house go.. its a big part of our lives, our kids grew up here..but its too big for just 2 people and a couple of dogs and I'm sick of cleaning this monster.. and the business ... after being stabbed in the back again today by another long time employee that my husband has gone out on a limb for many times to save her sleazy butt and all the financial problems she gets herself into.. I've had my fill of the lot of them too !

He's right... he's 55 going on 56, I just turned 52.. I've survived a fractured spine,

3 cancer surgeries and a host of other things thrown at me.. we've worked like dogs our whole life with little to no appreciation by anyone including family.. NOW Its time for us.. Its scarey and I'm going into something very foreign.. I'm sure within weeks I"ll be out looking for a part time job somewhere or starting my own small company... just sitting around watching the grass grow is not my cup of tea.. BUT.. I've gotten over that life change hump twice and I'll do it this third time as well as things play out once we put this house up for sale..

Take care of YOU first LADY .... then worry about others.. that's why I'm trying to tell you !... your self worth is in WHO YOU ARE AS A PERSON... not your job.. don't make the mistake of confusing the two like I did... it gave me ulcers and cancer.. it gave you a heart attack.. the calling is within YOU.. not out there somewhere in the form of a job or your employment.. YOU can take that calling anytime anywhere and do what you do best.

Good luck to you and hope you're well soon !! Xxena

I noted some really nasty comments by someone that tried to turn this into a racial hate war... WHY ? I don't see where this topic and its relies from most had anything to do with racism and hate mongering.. that whole rhetoric is old and very tiresome and just NOT true.

Boundary Waters eh ? Ive been through there some yrs ago. I understand its very populated now. When I was there last we spent ten days canoeing and saw only a handful of people. We also got chased off a peninsula by a mother bear and her two cubs. They tore our food pack down from a tree a shredded it to itsy bits.

Yup that general area, although where you were is on the East side of Lake Vermilion off the Tower/Ely side - we're on the west side Cook/Orr/International Falls but the same general area. Our side is not populated at all off summer terrorist season... other than the big lodge at the end of our penninsula we're the only ones in our bay/penninsula once the temps start to fall, everyone else goes back to wherever until the next year and its warm enough. Night and Day areas from there to the Chicago and suburban area where we're from. Mother bears with cubs are always unpredictable and should be avoided at all costs. Otherwise they usually don't want to be close to people and will leave before they confront you. I love the country up there and the different seasons but the townspeople get to me after a while, much too much laid back for me. That whole area on our side once the summer hordes go home go on unemployment so its really a welfare area for the most part except for the few small business owners or those willing to "drive" more than five miles to have a job. That is so bizarre with those people, many of them in that area have this literal paranoia about going out of their given area for anything.. work, hospital etc... generations live and die without seeing anything more than a given 30 mile radius of those litle hole in the wall towns. That amazes me..

Its a big world so much to see. Thats funny I was thinking about this today Lake Vermillion was the only lake name I could remember. We launched from Ely so your right about where I was. I plan to get back I hope the water is still as clean as I remember. I have memories of canoeing along and looking at the bottom of the lakes, it was like looking into an aquarium. I was close a few months ago we went up to Grand Marais which is nice but not the seclusion you get in BW. Im only 4 1/2 hrs from there so should be no excuses, Ive been living in Fl and my mind would frequently wander to the wilderness. Nothing but flat land and scrub brush down there, you cant even swim in the lakes, theyre full of algae and alligators. I swam in a river there once and I itched for three days.

Ely is kinda cool... I'm not into the tourist thing but we have a family membership to the Wolf Sanctuary.. and that is really neat if you're into that kinda stuff. Next time you're headed that way let me know and If we are up that same time I'll let you know how to find us on the other side... not much to see or do by us much more secluded.. but Hubby knows all the right fishing spots on our side of the Vermilion and some really good walleye's to be had for a nights dinner !

Go to Tower and find the State Park that has the tour of the old Iron Ore Mine and take it .. its really really cool but if you're afraid of confined spaces forget it...its really odd once down there to think that you have 2.5 miles of solid bedrock above you and no way out but that single mineshaft...but the tour was really interesting and I'm glad I took the girls and we did it a number of years back.

I sometimes get mildly irritated when someone hijacks a thread, but your conversation seems to bring a mellow friendly energy. Thanks, guys.

Seriously. With the history of this particular thread, it's a good thing to divert it to something nicer. It's a good thing.:-6
