I never trusted that Jesus guy. He seems a bit of a nut to me, like today's nutters with the sandwich boards 'REPENT THE END IS NIGH' type of thing.

fuzzy I don't know about where you live but we don't see any sandwich boards here. In Mancouver I've seen a couple of those guys shouting repent and be saved etc but that hasn't been for several years. That is not what Christianity here is about. Do you have a problem clothing the naked, caring for the ill,d visiting people in prison caring for the widows and orphans or feeding the hungry. That is what Jesus of Nazareth was about. To many folks added more and momre as ttime went on.. One gospel Mark was the first gospel about 72 for one audience, dThe next was Matthew who added more to the story for a different audience. He created the Christmas story which is midrash. Then in the late 80s Luke added more for a different audience. Finally John added even more for a different audience. Much of what was added was to persuade folks that Jeslus ws tdhe Messiah. However To really understand the OT and the NT one has to read them through Jewish eyes since most of them are midrash and hadd a specific meaning for the Jews. Not a literal meaning which leads to all kinds of absurdities.

It is true that the Jews didn't pronounced the name YHWY because they revered God so much so they used the word JHVH instead. Adonaih instead perhaps you are right. However Jesus Christ is the one who said it. He didn't follow the rules of the pharisees. The NT word used is actually a greek word Theos:

What evidence do you have that the eyewitness accounts are fabricated? Secular Historians must be lying too because secular history supports the Biblical eyewitness testimony.

I don't think it is possible to have reliable eyewitness accounts from that long a time ago. I don't have any evidence nor do you, x. I am not claiming to have evidence, but you do continuously. Logic tells me otherwise.

Logic tells me that there isn't any evidence of the claim that the eyewitness accounts are fabricated. Had they actually been fabricated, there would have been writings backing up that claim from historians. There are no writings claiming that the Biblical, eyewitness accounts are fabricated, actually the historical writings affirm the eyewitness accounts.

You were likely in a legalistic Church and I agree that Legalism is evil. I was abused by those types too, but I realize that the Bible is still true. Jesus is still who He is and it's not God's fault that they act that way. It's not fundamentalism that's bad. It's legalism. God is still God and His word is still true.

The God who said "though shal not kill" turns around and oks the massacre of all Cannanites including children and tells the soldiers they can keep the virgins for themselves. Some one sure new some soldiers though. / The Goid who said it would be better for a child molester to be thrown into the sea weighted down with a millstone yet orders the killing of all the children. The God who said though shal not kill orders the massacre of all the cCannanites. Sounds like Trump oreders one thing on Mon and the opposite on Tues. That god should make up his mind.

Xfrod to make the Bible contradictions disappear requires a lot of creative dancing but that does not work.. I've already noted a few. Lets add how did Judas die, if indeed he was a real person. One says he hung himself and the other say he fell down and split his guts open. Scholars are in agreement that those two are contradic tory but I've seen some really neat creative dancing to make them not contradictory. When I first started my career we used a primary reader called "Magic and Make Believe." Still being used by some.

Bible 101 for you: The Bible wasn't written in english. It was written in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. It was TRANSLATED into english, hence the different "versions" of the Bible. Secondly, that word used for "Thou shalt not kill" literally means "Thou shalt not murder". God in rare cases ordered His people to destroy certain groups in order to preserve His people. He knew that they would lead them astray and go after other Gods. Also, they could rise up later and continually murder, be at war with Israel.

They are both true and do not contradict. After he hung himself, his body fell down and his guts split open.

xfrod the idea that most sc holars agree with you is false. I have been studying formally under some of the best recognized scholars in the world. During my university years I was taught how to read the ancient Hebrew and the Kkoine Greek of the new testament. Also taught about interpretatio. Neither language is suited to translation. The best is The word translaiteration. Just reading a new National Geographic book on "The he Bible and Archaeology". The best recognized archaeologists recognized around the world simply do not agree with you.

Now having been trained formally in translation (transliteration) go ahead and tell me how it should be done. LOL
