I am glad there was alot of attention. But I wanted some ideas to protect our home. But as far as I would go to protect my children, I think I would just try real hard to disable the person. I know my husband though he be one of them I have to protect. He would be shaking like a tree in a hurricain. But thats ok, I love him to. Talk about role revesal.

Buy a gun, learn how to use it and tell your husband to grow a spine.

Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are a must.

I had someone try to break into my house when my son was just a baby. Hubby was on night turn. My first thought was to turn on a light so they would know they woke me. Whoever it was must've taken off. The cop suggested I not stay alone. A lot of help. I went out and bought a gun the next day. No doubt in my mind I could use it if neccessary to protect my family.

Well seeing as l live in England l don't own a gun. But God help the idiot who ever broke in to my house.

I have a very large loyal dog, with big old teeth (make wolverines look teeny!)

and l don't care how big they are no one will get near my son, even if it means killing.. There is no way you can predict what they want when they break in to rob or rape.

I had a situation a few years back, l'd been out with friends and came home pretty late and was tired. It was summer so l opened the living room window (one of those little ones near the top of the window frame0 and forgot it was open when l went to bed.

I was awoken by the noise of someone on the stairs and for a split second thought it mught be my son (4 yrs at the time), it then registered in my head that he wasn't there!!!!

He was at my friends for the night. I did not have my dog then, but l did have a pick axe handle ddown the side of my bed.

I lay there and pretended to sleep, l figured the best method of attack was surprise. As soon as l saw a very large figure in the doorway l leapt out of the bed screaming and came within an inch of smashing skull...

When the voice of my best friend screamed at me don't do it it's me!!!

Well l didn't brain him, but l gave him a good few bruises from punching him back down the stairs from scaring the living c*** out of me.

Have never left a window open since:-3

Us ladies have to be careful, we all don't have a big old man around like far etc all the time:D
take a bite out of life it's there to be tasted!!
