I've slapped oscar and fuzzy seven ways to Wednesday for their lack of politeness earlier in this thread, they were both disgusting and what's more they know it. The one thing to do when you finally have the balance of the argument is not to crow.
It was thursday actually Spot!

Jimbo, Odie, there was another post added to the thread by Touchstone/JJ and it was deleted because JJ was permanently banned from the site. The Touchstone posts in the thread have been goading Jester, the deleted post was more of the same.

My name is Greg Sharp and I am the original author of said post in question.
It is true that I had apparently employed the use of the same free proxy as this banned user, but I'm not that person. I have appealed to the administrators here to take a look and perhaps ask Spot to agree to reverse his decision of both banning me and restoring what I believe to be a fair and accurate description of what this all looks like to an objective observer who has no history as a member of this forum. It's true the post focuses on Jester and Spot but I would think both are mature enough people to read it and consider its merits.
Spot, I hope you choose to reserve yourself regarding this post until the administrators have decided on my fate and the fate of my original post.

Thank you and Hello!.
As you can see, the site is in the middle of a problem with a banned ex-member who uses proxy servers to disguise the fact that he's had eight different accounts with lying personas and seems incapable of going elsewhere.
For the time being, unless there's a prior arrangement to use a proxy server or the moderators already know the poster as an established member here, posts are being deleted if they are made through a proxy server. This is, perhaps, a temporary measure but it's what we're doing for the time being.
I'll leave your post there since it's the context for this reply. Any further posts made through a proxy server will be deleted.

Excuse my ignorance Spot, i am far used to discussing the dorsel fin of a barbel, and i am new myself here, however, does this infer that 'Poster' is in fact still 'Touchstone' who was formally 'J.J.'?

That's a question I'm not competent to address.
Proxies, at the moment, may be used by established posters. They have their uses, after all.
Anyone new wanting to post here through a proxy has the option but at the moment it involves demonstrating to the moderators that they're not a banned ex-member. The simplest is to register through a proxy, PM me through a proxy giving a phone number on which I can speak for a couple of minutes, after which they can post through a proxy with no problem at all. Can anyone suggest any reason why this might prove either difficult or undesirable?
Our proxy policy is under continuous review.

They say she had an open access policy with additional charges for any customer who overstepped the service limit.

When my kids were at school, and it was birthday time, we had logistics problems that leave these little variations for dead. Like - some were vegetarian, some ate meat but not beef, or not pork, Some removed their shoes, others didn't. When one of mine shared his beloved pink piggy bank with a kid from a land where this would have been a devastating insult, everyone just laughed and got on with it. Loads of fun.
Alors - on passe à table!!! As my evil French/Euro side would say. Bon appétit!!
We love you too Pam!:-4 Wouldn't this be wonderful if we could actually do something like this?? :-6
Shall I now invite Jimbo? Or is this ideologically a bit too courageous? Nar - Jimbo, me lovely, yer in!!! The salmon's all gone, but today I'm starting some baking - maybe almond shortbread. Add fresh strawberries and champers - and we can eat outside. It's sunny and warm here, and everything smells of gardenias, and the cicadas have just emerged from wherever they are when they're not making a racket. Could be some Christmas beetles sooon too.

You live on South African time. You're in bed by 5pm New York time, you can't avoid it, you'd never manage to sleep if you stayed up until 7am local time to make it look like you're an American. Nothing you can do is going to disguise your timezone. All you can do is pretend you work nights, stay up through the day and go to bed at dusk. It's not credible.
There's a standing offer for any of your personae, including one/poster, to phone me using Number Withhold. Where's the privacy invasion in that? All you need is an American accent and the correct answer to two questions only one/poster knows the answer to. And no, I'm not going to tell you the questions beforehand. Perhaps you'd like to explain why ringing me on that basis is unacceptable?

Should I venture in that direction I'll be delighted to accept the offer. A phone call would be cheaper though.

Jester;1087856 wrote: I don't think you want to get that close to JJ. eeeeew!:wah:
I'm about to post the biggest retraction so far on ForumGarden and by crikey, I've posted a few in my time but none come close to this.
JJ's still a long-term problem but One/Poster isn't JJ. One (or Poster, whichever user name he prefers, he can use either) just happened to post into the same thread as JJ with his first post using the identical IP address that JJ had used and there are some coincidences I'm simply not prepared for. This is a bit like meeting a strange woman at a party and then discovering she's your twin sister and you were separated at birth, those sort of odds.
Poster very kindly allowed me to put tedious questions to try to trip him had he been someone asked to impersonate the actual account owner, and to my mind they're not questions he could possibly have been prepped on. I knew his operating system down to its last bolt and so, quite obviously, did he.
Once, a long time ago, I did this with a woman in Birmingham and again a phone call fixed it quickly. I still went round for the next six months with a placard round my neck saying ForumGarden Fool on it.
I'll grovel some more in a few minutes, I ought to post this while it's fresh and unban the One account.

LOL....well we have something in commnon then. I am the black sheep in many more ways than one. Among other things, I am also the only one who does not drink alcohol. But those are not the only issues. Its almost as if the baby wagon dropped me off at the wrong house by accident.

I'm pretty much the black sheep too. Left out of most things in the family. Mine is because I'm headstrong and don't let anyone tell me what to do. I think they have a problem with me being Christian too...but that's their problem, not mine.
wildhorses;1087878 wrote: Spot: Which post are you undeleting? I mean which number is it.....so we can find it? Or will you be adding it in right here?
I'd linked to it eight minutes before you asked, Jester's copied it forward, I expect you can see it now.
For all those who are still puzzled at my incompetence (and I've asked for a technical review of what I did, I'm very anxious indeed never to do that again!) here's my immediate reaction:Anonymising Proxy servers are shared by hundreds of people a day. A person wants to be anonymous, they put the details of a proxy server in their browser and they browse through it. The places they visit only get to see the proxy server address, not the browser's address. Hundreds of other people are going through the same place. What's so unlikely, given how big the world is, is that two people pointed their browsers at the same site in the same week through the same proxy server to post on the same thread about the same topic with a similar unusually competent use of English.
One/poster tells me he chose his proxy from an advert, and that the proxy site's being heavily pushed. He thinks that if JJ/Touchstone/Donnabhan found it the same way then it could just be a coincidence of timing, and that anyone looking for a proxy this week was quite likely to choose the one they both chose. I still think it's major odds but it's not as huge as it started.
