I'm not sure as a newb here whether it's ok to put up links to other forums, but this is the easiest way for me to share my recent holiday in Spain:

Welcome to the garden, I hope you stick around.

I loved the read, I haven't laughed so much in ages, :yh_rotfl You should write a book on some of the events in your life, you have an art for making reading funny. From now on when I see any tourists I will see them in a different light and I will think of you. and laugh.

These are some of the things Brits get up to when on holiday, of course I'm not meaning you or your family Olin. Then you might understand why some Spanish don't like foreigners.

I have been into restaraunts in the evening, I don't mean cafe/bars I am talking about nice places with full a la carte menu. When some Brits have come in and sat at a table, the waiter has gone over to them and asked for them to leave because they are not dressed appropriately, can you believe this, the men are wearing shorts (sometimes too small for them), sandles and socks pulled up, thats it nothing else, big pot bellies hanging over their shorts and sometimes sweaty hairy chests and armpits. The women come in wearing bikinis sometimes a see through wrap around skirt, well as you know not many women have perfect bodies. I'll let your imagination run on that one......All the time we see the same scantily dressed in the stores shopping, and I don't mean around the beach front, I'm talking towns and cities..

I have heard people shouting really loud and swearing at the shop assisstants, because the shop doesn't sell some English product that they want, I have even heard some call the girls behind the cash register. stupid foreigners or worse.

Quite often we see really stupid drunken louts insulting or abusing the Spanish including the elderly. I once saw two youn men taking the crutches from an old lady that was sitting on a bench, they ran away laughing but never brought the crutches back.

I could go on and on.

I hope you understand a little of why the English are not very well liked abroad.

Sorry to go on a bit.

Glad you enjoyed the travel-log pina, as far as I know you're the first 'local' to read it.

The place we were staying at also had a 'trousers' rule in the dining area - didn't stop a German turning up for breakfast in his Speedos though.

I hope you are not being racist Brother Olin, you must always love thy neighbour as the Good Book tells us.

(Alternatively make sure you get to the restaurant first and reserve as many tables as you can and ALWAYS ensure your beach towel is spread across the biggest and best sun lounger)

They actually had a 'No towels to reserve lounger' rule at our hotel.

Not that the rule was particularly adhered to.

Never had any 'wantage' problems, though I was pretty surprised to find that a lump of Anchor butter was the same price as 20 fags when we were in Ibiza the other year.

Didn't cause me to swear though -well not out loud anyway.
