I first heard his brand of humor in New Zealand where he is just as popular as Australia and the UK. He would go over just as well in the U.S. if most Americans could understand his thick Scottish accent. It took me a while to understand him. He's good.

Me too....apart from the ones in the 'garden', :wah: I also use to love Morecambe and Wise. We used to get good Saturday night variety...now we get c**p.

Whatever happened to Brian Conley I wonder...he used to make me laugh.

"I see Ken Bigley every morning, and I'm disappointed that he's not dead yet," he wisecracked just days before the unfortunate British hostage was duly executed. "Aren't you the same as me, don't you wish they would just get on with it?":-2

I love Billy Connolly. I saw him live a few years ago. He's real funny. I was also listening to him on a train journey and had to turn off my CD player. I was laughing so much people were beginning to look at me strangly. Considering I was on my own probably a normal reaction :-)

He was funny right up until he started letting his wife (aka pamela Stephenson) talk him into analysis and producing a stream of books about his terrible childhood and how she had helped him understand it blah blah, his early stuff was terrific.

I would be interested in what out Scottish members thought of him

As a scottish member my opinion is as follows, i love billy connelly he is a very funny comedian or should i say was when he first started out! i grew up beside billy and my grandfather was a friend of his, in real life he is a very quiet man nothing like the shows he puts on, still in his day was one of the funniest comedians i have ever seen but i do think his humer appeals to the scottish person more as we probebly understand more about the situations he is describing in the story's he tells.

I also like Billy Connolly, or as we call him here The Big Yin, he`s right up there with the best of them, infact I would go as far and say he is the funniest comedian I have heard, I have cried in pain at some of the jokes he comes out with, The one about incontinence pants is a Classic :wah:

I think his humour is unique , much of what he says is just how he observes people, he is very good at that.

On a more serious note his remarks about Ken Bigley, were a big mistake, and to be honest, he hasnt done much since, Most times we see him in Scotland is at Clan Gatherings.
