i didn't have a window in my old beater car when i was in college for about 6 weeks...i was too broke to buy one...eventually, i had little blades of grass growing in my floor board. your story made me think of that. it could be worse!

One day you will look back on your beater and its irritations with fondness. Bad car stories are usually well received.

When I was 18, I had a rear window that was off its track. I would open the back door and push it back into place any time it slipped. It would usually stay a couple of weeks and slowly slide down until I noticed and push it back up again. One day a stereo thief noticed the window before I did. It was irritating driving around with a broken window and no music, but I managed.

Here's a great bad car story that might cheer you up. My friend Jen had this horrid little blue honda. Usually hondas are great cars, but this was the honda (and they're always blue, the bad ones, for some reason) you see everywhere with the bumper tied on with rope, or made out of wood, or the hood tied down...you get the picture. So she had this honda. You couldn't open the door from the inside, you had to unroll the window and use the outside handle. There were times when the window didn't roill down so much as you had to push it down. Also, the passenger seat didn't lock into place. If she accellerated or stopped suddenly the passenger seat would slide all over the place. And if you were a small person...I remember getting my face smacked on the windshield once! Various other things started going. The car was a death trap. So they decided to sell her car. They were very honest about the condition. They sold it to a man who said he could fix it. Well, a few months later my friend and her mom got a call at 2 am. The car had been abandoned in downtown Lorain (NOT a great place to leave a car!) in the middle of the street, all the doors unlocked.

Apparently the car was SO BAD that the guy didn't even want to pay to transfer the title! He just got out and left it in the middle of the street! So funny.

That reminds me of a story similar to that. How I don't know but I remember the owner (assuming he was foreign or just stupid,) left the top of his car open when entering the car-wash. You can imagine that he wasn't too pleased by the end results. Made me giggle though :wah:

The problem was that the passenger door would fly open when you went around a sharp curve. It stressed me out at the time ... but now I think back to my poor friends screaming and holding onto the seat for dear life and I crack up!

I bet that made dating hard!!!

My Boyfriend's car door occasionally does that now, only he has a car where the top of the seatbelt is attached to the door...so when the door swings open the seatbelt chokes you!

I had an old convertible a few yrs ago, it was a Florida car and when I moved to Minnesnowta I had trouble with the door locks, it was winter and it was frozen. I thought if I poured hot water down the inside of the glass it would melt it.

Just for the record it doesnt work...it was two days before I finally got in.

We get ice storms here so my car likes to freeze shut. I remember tugging and tugging on the handle and the door not wanting to open. So finally I slammed my body as hard as I could onto the door and broke the ice only to discover that my tugging on the frozen handle had actually broken the handle. So I had to crawl in from the passenger side and kick my way out of the door from the inside when I wanted to exit the car. Always a fun thing to do in three inch heels.

We were driving through the lion enclosure at long leat safari park when the window litrally fell out of our car we pulled over (no lions in sight ) waited we couldnt go anywhere so tryed to pull the window up when out of nowhere came a warden GET INSIDE THE VEHICLE it was the man off the telly ( here in the uk we have a program about the running of long leat safari park)he had a biiiiigggggg f****ff gun and said we were in mortal danger ,well i couldnt see any lions. so we got an armed escort out of the enclosure and a mechanic met us at the exit. yes we were stupid no it wasnt our fault (i blame the monkeys they chewed holes in our spare wheel cover ,bent our aerial, tryed to mangle our wipers) accidents happen - ALWAYS CHECK YOUR WINDOWS BEFORE YOU GO INTO THE LION ENCLOSURE . but i got to see the man off the telly .

Can't say I've been to Longleat, been to most other safari parks though. I don't know why but every time we go to see lions (even during our recent holiday in Vegas,) I find that the lions are ALWAYS asleep. I don't know why but they are. I swear they notice me coming out of the corner of their eyes and fall asleep on purpose!!!
