FLOYD, Iowa -- Authorities in northern Iowa are seeking more volunteers to help them search for a 5-year-old girl who has been missing from her home since Friday morning.
Volunteers were meeting Sunday at the Floyd Community Center in Floyd, which is about 20 miles east of Mason City.
More than 460 people helped scour a three-mile area around the apartment complex where Evelyn Miller was last seen.
Evelyn was reported missing when her mother returned home from work at about 6:30 a.m. Friday.
Noel Miller said her children stayed at home with her boyfriend Thursday night while she worked.
When she got home the door to the apartment was partially open and Evelyn was gone.
Pilots from the Iowa Air National Guard flew over the corn and soybean fields with infrared equipment in hopes of finding the girl. About 40 volunteers on horses and 35 on all-terrain vehicles helped Saturday.
Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation and FBI agents are questioning all who had met or knew the girl and her family.
The Virginia-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children have helped send out 9,000 flyers with details and a picture of Evelyn. .

I found it strange that the mother didn't want to release the names of her fiancee's two friends (who were said to have also been staying at the apartment that night.) This makes me very suspicious. If one of my children were missing I don't care who was in this house--I would be releasing their names to anyone who would listen! Also, read on Fox news that boyfriend/fiancee passed lie detector test.
My biggest question is this..WHY ON EARTH was this little girl sleeping on the couch and not in pajamas safe in another room? Reports say she was clothed in play clothes and sleeping on couch when last seen. So sad. I don't care how much or little money a person has, all children need a stable nightly routine of getting their "jammies" on, brushing teeth and being provided a comfortable safe place to sleep AWAY from an outside door!!! Sorry, I get a little frustrated when I hear of these scenerios and then everybody wonders why the kid disappeared.

I really, really didn't want to come into this thread because I was afraid of what I would read. Of course, I had to see. Stories like this break my heart and fill me with rage at the same time. I am normally not a violent person, but I would never have a problem with killing a person who could harm a child. I'd be able to live with myself too.

Examiner Completes Autopsy On Body
Officials Not Releasing Girl's Cause Of Death

FLOYD, Iowa -- The state medical examiner has completed an autopsy on the body of Evelyn Miller.
Photos: From Scene
The examiner is not saying how the 5-year-old girl died because the information is still part of a criminal investigation.
Evelyn's body was discovered in Cedar River at about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Evelyn was last seen asleep in her family's apartment by two acquaintances of her mother's fiancé at about 2 a.m. last Friday.
Marilyn Dettmer, Floyd County's attorney, said no suspects are in custody.
The criminal investigation continues. Law enforcement officials searched the river on boats for any other traces of physical evidence. Authorities also sealed off Rotary Park Road, which leads to the spot where the child's body was found.
Earlier this week, two men were questioned by authorities and a search of their residence was conducted. But authorities have not called them suspects.
Dettmer said 1,300 volunteers gave about 9,000 hours of their time to help in the search.
Evelyn would have turned 6 years old on Saturday.
A memorial fund has been set up. Those interested in contributing can do so at:

Another Missing Iowa Girl
I am new to this forum. I am from the town of charles city iowa where that sweet lil angel was kidnapped and murdered... First off i want to say my heart aches for the family..And my prayers and thoughts are with them... I got 2 small school age children and it scares me to death to think that someone is still out there.. They supposidly had a guy in custody for a day or 2 and they let him go.. It was the place where he was staying that they took all that evidence out of... i noticed that on www.iowasexoffender.org there is alot of sex offenders that have been released and they all seem to reside right here in charles city iowa.. And if you notice there all close to each other.. I undestand they have a right to live wherever also but not that close to each other and some are by schools or child cares...And all the people can tell us is to not worry things are ok.. No things are not ok.. There is a animal out there somewhere.. Thanks for your time..
