I have a degree in Environmental Science, this does not make me an expert, and have found most of the Green politics have no basis in science. Certain species will become extinct as a matter of natural selection. Some of the "worst environmental disasters" have led to ecological boons. Fire should not be controlled in the forests - it's necessary. I could go on and on. OK , I will, Al Gore's book on global warming was biggest bunch of political bullshite that had almost no basis in science - political gain maybe. Oh yea - isn't he the one who started the internet?

You have got to be a fascinating person to know in real life!

BTW want some baby fish??? :D

What fish are you raising? I'm quite sure we would find something to converse about in real time. AND... who are you to denigrate my education and life experiences? I don't want to be mean but I worked for 15 years in environmental clean-up. I like to think I did some good. I worked the Valdez oil clean-up. I've been an environmental consultant for several companies. I did lab work - including microbiology to develope degraders - for ten years before investigating the true harm and good of contaminants - ie PCB's, oil spills, clear cutting.... You may not have meant that comment as a slam so I will take it as a compliment. You have no idea of my background or my work in the field, I was very much in demand as a teacher and consultant. Yes, I'm going back to the teaching - it was my love.

My fish quit multiplying and you gave me advice..you know gardening and canning which is something i try and fail at every single year and you apparently know enough about the environment that you even forced yourself to read al gore without a gun to your head. You aren't a survivor , you are a ' bring it on i'll kick its ass too' woman when faced with lifes crap.

Can you possibly not know how interesting you are? You probably don't see yourself as extraordinary at all do you?

You don't have to be a scientist to understand environmentalism. We live on this planet and it's lifeforms make our life possible.

Pollute and kill a species of fish and suddenly you have no birds of a certain kind.

Extinct an owl and suddenly you have a plague of hantavirus-ridden field mice.

It's not nice, or SAFE to play God with Mother Nature.

Sadly, most people feel like BTS does, that nature comes second to mankind. They'll keep feeling that way until mankind can no longer sustain himself on this planet. Even now, vast reaches of wilderness are being razed for more room for humans.

I expect that someday, when guys like BTS have had their way and are long dead and gone, the seas will be dead, the animals will be gone, and the only surviving plant life will be in museums. Then, with a population of hundreds of billions, man will turn to the only food left, himself.

Dead bodies recycled and fed to the population. That's the future BTW wants for you.

:cool:HMMM Jives......

You should have read the article before posting your nonsense............. Please do show me (us) where this article says ANY of the very those nice things you say I stand for?

BTW, (pun intended) I agree with everything you say up until "Sadly....:".

For your name calling and false assumptions make you look the fool you should feel.

"Dead bodies recycled and fed to the population. That's the future BTW (BTS)wants for you."

Is that what you really think I believe Jives?

How many specieces have been delisted from the ESA list after over 27 years of existince?

How many are listed?

Read and debate the article or shut up..............

I partially agree the ESA is an ever expanding wrangle of bureaucracy but I dont want to see people shooting eagles aghain or depleting fish stocks. Nature takes care of herself. If she gets mad she'll toss us a tsunami!

Good job Micah. I agree with you. As humans we can damage the planet but we cannot control it. The Earth is an enclosed ecosystem (OK there are outside solar forces etc....) and has regenerative abilities science is still discovering. I do know - or rather believe to the core of my being - as the dominant species doing the most harm, we have the sole obligation to protect our home.

And what are humans? Some inorganic matter OUTSIDE of nature?
