rewriting history in one's mind
have you ever noticed how people rewrite their own history? is it a mechanism to live with whatever they have done? do they really convince themselves? here is why i throw this out for discussion..........a young woman is a crack addict. she is always robbing her grandmother. one night grandma objects, so "alice" beats her to death with a hammer. a really messy scene. ok....three years in our jail. we have an airtight case and are seeking death. our weak DA office takes a plea from her, she admits to certain things and takes a 20 year sentence, rather than go to trial. with time served and the average serving of 85% of a sentence here, she won't do 20. .....the day after the plea i go to interview her, she knows me, likes me. she confesses to me what she did, thinking it's all over now. she weaves a totally illogical and false story for my benefit. i can tell she is just trying it on for size so she can live with what she did. i let her get away with it, i knew she had convinced herself. i could have gone back to the DA and submitted an affidavit. but i walked away, sadly.

Wow. I find it true that you always reap what you sow. Or...live by the sword, die by the sword. Or in her case, live by the hammer, die by the padlock.

LC, I think that crack, (and many other types of dope) mess a person's mind up to such a degree, they can justify anything to themselves that involves getting their high. They truly believe they can do whatever it takes to obtain the means to get more dope.
Junkies are a unique breed. I've known a lot of them, and they seem to believe they are entitled to their dope. Kind of like people who live by welfare. They believe they are entitled. Personally, I'd like to use 'em for target practice.

I realize that its not totally on topic, but...Rewriting of history occurs on a collective as well as on an individual level.

You must have been a Civil War surgeon in a past life. Thats right, if it cant be fixed, just cut it off! Dont bother with trying to figure it out, why, that just takes too long.
Sigh.
Its akin to treating a cancer patient by constantly cutting away the malignancy instead of treating the root causes. Sooner or later, your gonna run out of flesh to cut out.

Besides that, the people who know me here, realize, I'M JOKING. Lighten up there, Sparky.

Okay, my bad. Apepologies.
And no, I would not call myself a 'bleeding heart' type. Not realizing that you were kidding around, I took what you said literally and mistook yourself for the 'no heart' type.

Not the "no heart" type, just the "very little patience for dopers" type. Don't like 'em, never will. I prefer to save my ammo for the range, anyway. :yh_rotfl

Would your hardcore "REAL BROTHER BIKERS" agree with that statement?
Wondering what the dope usage is in the biker world? Got any figures for us?
Or are you just a weekend "BabyRider" Wannabe.....

Or are you just a weekend "BabyRider" Wannabe.....So. What are you implying, exactly? That we ARE dopers? That I am NOT part of a bike club, or what? Be a bit more specific, here, pal. Was something said tonight to p!ss you off, or you just felt like being a smart @ss with me, personally?
Technically, no I am not a member of the club I associate with, women are not members, but we do wear colors, a patch specific to women. The men have a more elaborate patch. This is an M.C., not an R.C. but I probably need to explain that to you. M.C. stands for "motorcycle club" and R.C. stands for "riding club." M.C.'s are dedicated, committed, they pay dues and have obligations and requirements. It is a family and a brotherhood. An R.C. is a bunch of guys with bikes that ride together once in a while, no committment, no obligation. There's a saying: "Bikers are a unique breed, Harley owners are a dime a dozen." We are bikers. It is a lifestyle. They call themselves and each other "brother" and all the women are "sisters."
As for the dope, I can only speak for the clubs I know. Ours does have a few guys who smoke weed. Anything other than that is strictly forbidden in the "house". There are a few more hard-core clubs who are involved in the harder drugs. Our club does not associate as closely with them, but that is not to say we separate ourselves entirely. I have never claimed that bikers as a whole do not do dope. I don't, my man doesn't and those are the only two people I would concern myself with when it comes to that.
Have I explained this clearly enough for you, BTS, or should I elaborate? Because if you need more info on the subject, I've got it. You're a lucky one, I gotta say. Because if you tried in person, what you tried to do here, which is attempt to make a biker look foolish, you'd find yourself walking with a permanent limp.
LC, my apologies to you for the blatant hijack!
