One of the great film actors who made a difference to the medium. His work with Ingmar Bergman was the extension of film into Nordic, and thereby European, culture.

The fact that he never received an Oscar says a great deal about America. It is laughable that he was never deemed worthy of an award, it devalues the entire concept.
