Marking Forums Read

I've been trying to Mark Forums Read, to get rid of all the Religious clutter that seems to have totally taken over Forum Garden (that & stupid Word Games), but although it goes back to the clear Forum Menu, on clicking on New Posts they're all back again.

If you hit f5 do they loose their highlight?
