Veggie Garden guide needed

Post by GarBen »

Hello forum Garden, thanks for the add to the forum! really looking forward to speaking with you all.

I Signed up to the forum because of the name "Forum Garden" and hoping there are some green-fingered gardeners here that can help me out on my path to a clean and healthy lifestyle.

About a year ago I decided to change my ways and started going to the gym and eating a little healthier than usual and it's worked out great so far, I'm feeling better and losing weight by the week. I have now decided to introduce veggie days into my diet where I won't eat meat and certain days of the week but I want to grow my own veggies.

I suppose the most important question would be, what veggies can I grow in England at this time of year? And what is easier to grow? due to this being my first time giving my green-fingers a try.

All of your suggestions and advice, tips, and tricks you can share with me to give me a good start will be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

You are certainly welcomed here. The title FORUM GARDEN is not about gardening. That is not to say you can't bring that subject up.

Myself I do like my small garden. I live in Kansas, the US and normally have the best luck with melons, cucumbers, and tomatoes.

I always buy a copy of the FARMERS ALMANAC. Gets me in the mood.

I have no special tips on how I prepare the soil. I do find straw very helpful in suppressing the weeds. I don't claim to be an organic gardener, but I avoid chemicals as much as I can.

Good luck, perhaps others will chime in.
