Post by kazalala »

what shows are you watching just now? Or is there any you have watched and would recommend?

I caved in and watched the Game of Thrones, afraid to say i loved it! A lot of people were saying oh its just a load of sex etc,, but to be honest after the 2nd series that waned, and i thought it was only in keeping with the storyline anyway. So Im now caught up and waiting for season 7. we have one of those fire sticks and an android box so we can get practically everything on our tv.

Another i have watched that way, is Sons of Anarchy, that my son kept telling me to watch. It has 7 seasons and then it ends, i have watched it all and i miss it now! :wah:

we are at present watching Vikings which is good and has some historical value, and also Blind-spot which im not that fussed on but hubby loves it.

I did enjoy the Missing that was on BBC and another good one was Happy Valley. I usually watch things like call the midwife and Casualty etc too :)

I don't know what you guys get over there, but here are my wife and my favorites:

1. Elementary (or Sherlock when it comes around)

2. Masterchef Junior (It's amazing. You gave us Ramsey, but negated that with Bannon)

3. Survivor (Starts soon)

4. Law and Order SVU (As good as the original)

5. Hunted (New but interesting: runner couples try to escape professional trackers including FBI and CIA agents)

6. America's Next Top Model (guilty pleasure...)

7. and my personal favorite right now: Timeless (Well-written time-travel series, the protagonists aren't sure if they are even on the right side as they try to stop a rogue from unraveling history.)

Not been watching much TV of late. Need to catch up on Game of Thrones, though. Last episode I watched was the one where Ramsey B assaulted Sansa. At the time I had been hold out hope that GRRM was going to finish writing the book series, and I didn't want to drift too far off the book story line.

It is now evident that he plans to just let the TV series take off and run with his story, and let it go. On the whole, a very interesting cross-media adventure. So, I should probably revisit the series.

I just started watching a series on Netflix, called Travelers. People come back to the 21st Century by taking over bodies of people at their moment of death, and try to fix things. Immediately they discover that the intel on the hosts is less than complete. One is a Junkie, another is an epileptic librarian with learning disabilities, A single mother, and an FBI Agent.

It shows promise.

Well I wont spoil GOT for you if you still have catching up to do except to say you probably have an idea juts how much worse Ramsey can get:lips: I think i am pleased i didn't read the books first.

Let me know how that other series goes :) If you haven't watched Son of Anarchy I recommend it ... it took me a few episodes to really get into at first but i was totally hooked once i did.

Longmire ran for several seasons. It is about a sheriff in a Wyoming county, who is dealing with some interesting characters. One of his deputies is the son of his biggest critic, a developer who wants to turn the area into the next Las Vegas, and Cheyenne crook who wants to build a casino on the reservation, and a corrupt Tribal Police Chief. All the while dealing with life and the usual stuff. This is supposed to be the last season.

A movie thread may be worth running as well.

I just saw The Great Wall. Kinda weird, but very entertaining.

Game of Thrones...... Didnt watch it for a long time after it started, then binge watched it all to catch up.

Vikings....... The same binge watching

Westworld....... Anthony Hopkins makes anything watchable. Based on the original '70s film with Yul Brynner but much more complex.

Taboo......The recent BBC series with Tom Hardy.

The Walking Dead,

Humans

Vikings (though we are waiting for the next season right now)

Into the Badlands (I think it starts next week again)

The Voice (starts up again either this week or next)

Incorporation (just finished it's first season, I hope there will be more)

And for complete wackiness we watch ...Whose Line is It.

The Wife has taken a liking to the new McGiver series. Me, I can take it or leave it.

Same with Scorpion. She likes it. I kinda get hung up with the bizarre plot twists and nearly impossible situations that they manage to just squeak out of.

Blue Bloods

Major Crimes

For the most part I like older shows like the old Gunsmoke, Maverick and other western shows from the '50's-60's. Then there was Naked City. A lot of the appeal is seeing performers in their youth who later became well known actors.

I was sad that Downton Abbey finished.

SSGB on BBC 1 on Sundays, started rather slow and almost boringly, but it has picked up little o I'll persevere with it for the moment. The series was, in fact, not quite what I expected, and unless it picks up greatly I feel that it has missed an opportunity of presenting a realistic and thought-provoking story. We shall see.

I enjoy the Catherine Cookson's series of 3 hour period 'epics' set in the North East being aired on Drama Channel (20 Freeview)

Boon (originally ITV) is being shown, I think, each day. We now appear to have moved to Nottingham to film the various series. As I have lived in the Nottingham area all my life, I find it great fun recognising the various locations that they are now using. Far more interesting to me than when they filmed the earlier series in Birmingham ! They are showing "Boon" each afternoon at 3 pm on the "Drama" channel. I have a vested interest in the Boon series now that they are showing the episodes filmed in Nottingham, as the film company hired our river charter/trip boat for one of the episodes, I think it was the 90 minute Christmas special at the end of series 6 (ep.14) - Michael Elphick kept himself to himself when not filming on location in the boat. Neil Morrissey, all 6' 4" of him had to bend when he came down into the saloon, and one of our crew Jim became jelly-like when Elizabeth Carling came down the steps into our saloon. Jim reckoned she'd got legs "right up to the top". Actually she was a very nice person and she really had a great pair of legs !!! We could see this, as she was wearing a Christmas outfit with a very short skirt. I think Jim was never the same after Elizabeth had a photo taken while she was sitting on his knee !! :yh_drool Neil and Elizabeth were in a relationship at the time, and I always thought it was rather a shame that they split up after being engaged for a while.

I'm also pleased that Robot Wars has been brought back with a second series on BBC 2 on Sunday evening. I thoroughly enjoyed the mayhem of several years ago when Craig Charles was the presenter.

I know there are other TV progs. that I enjoy but I'm tired and need to get some sleep ! :yh_sleep

Well, I just discovered that season 2 does not come out until 2018, now. No matter.

I probably want to re-watch season 1 before then, anyway.

I think it is worth paying for. and I don't say that about many series that have come from HBO

Boardwalk Empire was one I enjoyed a great deal.

Some of the others, not so much.
