Actually our roots are pagan. Democracy, liberty, freedom pagan words pagan concepts. Christmas was a pagan celebration as was easter the christian church has never been able to stop that visceral desire to party at the change of seasons in europe.

Interesting which of the far reaching changes the paper picks up on with its headline - says a lot about the paper.

Good to see that the two sects are finally starting to normalise relations - that's taken far too long.

Well yeah pink news the clue's in the title.

One of the main points of the declaration was the need to defend persecuted Christians.

“We call on the world community to unite against violence and terrorism, the document reads.

The church leaders also discussed the benefits of the European integration, but said that Europe needs to protect the rights of religious believers. They warned against “integration that does not respect religious identity.

The declaration establishes the notion of the family that is shared by both churches — it describes marriage as a free act of love and fidelity between a man and a woman — and also confired the shared negative attitudes toward abortion and euthanasia.

By the way we want our religious freedom protected so we can persecute homosexuals and deny women the right to choose when and if to give birth Not a hint of hypocrisy there. From neither of thee orgamnisations was there a word of condemnation of the atrocities carried out by christian militia during the serbia/croatian conflict nor the mass murder carried out in roman catholic churches with full collusion from the priests in rwanda. These people do not have the interests of their fellow man at heart all they want to do is restore the power of their church and not just on their adherents. The religious identity they want to protect is not under attack our freedom it put it to you is at stake.

They might condemn terrorism but the pope is on record as saying that those who attack eligion are asking for it don't know about the patriarch but putin wants their support and is letting the church have more influence.

They're meeting in cuba. How long do you think it will be before the church and the big corporations gop back in and repossess the land from ordinary people. (OK I don't know but I bet you compensation will be oart of any deal to let cuba ttrade again)

Tony Blair's legacy. Education is just too damn important to be left to the private sector and I would ban all sperate religious schools all they do is unculcate bigotry and hatred. When religion rulked in europe it was the dark ages seems like we could be drawn back to those days if we are not careful.
