This story shall the good man teach his son;

And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,

From this day to the ending of the world,

But we in it shall be remembered -

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.

Six hundred years ago to the day, the yeoman longbow archers of Henry V's expeditionary force committed righteous mayhem on the French, and particularly on their nobility.When the king of England found himself master of the field of battle, and that the French, excepting such as had been killed or taken, were flying in all directions, he made the circuit of the plain, attended by his princes; and while his men were employed in stripping the dead, he called to him the French herald, Montjoye, king-at-arms, and with him many other French and English heralds, and said to them, “It is not we who have made this great slaughter, but the omnipotent God, and, as we believe, for a punishment of the sins of the French.

Battle of Agincourt

The French have never been quite the same since.

Well...congrats on your blood-soaked holiday. We have D-Day as our big one. Although I guess you could count Independence Day as a battle-celebration. Funny...we don't have a single Civil War holiday. I guess that one was just a bit too bloody to celebrate.

There is no holiday Saint, we don't 'do' celebratory holidays....we don't even 'do' national day days.......we are far too modest.......that is just Spot showing off his historical knowledge.

The patron saint of cobblers, of those who made shoes out of leather, those who stick to their last. He had a male companion who was just like him, they preached together by day, cobbled together by night and died the same martyrdom.

Oh! LOL! Well, thanks for clearing up my confusion and straightening out England's image. You don't even have a "Prime Minister's Day" or a "Royal Day" or even a "Blitz Day?" How do your government workers get a day off then?

We have bunches of holidays. We love 'em so much were always trying to think up new ones. (Mostly that's just the retailers, though.) There's Thanksgiving, Christmas, July 4th, Valentine's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Martin Luther Kind Day, Easter, President's Day, Good Friday, and even "Snow Day."

Hahahahaha, good one. Actually, it's a day to sell flowers, cards, jewelry, chocolate, and give the divorce lawyers the day off.

That's a new one on me. One would think it big in France.
What happened to Kamala Harris' campaign?
She had the black vote all locked up.

Well, it's not actually a day off work, but the papers and news always make a big deal out of it.
