No better way to celebrate the life of thug Michael Brown and the anniversary of his violent attack upon peace officer Darren Wilson.

"We cannot continue, we cannot talk about the good things that we have been talking about, if we are prevented from moving forward with this kind of violence," he said.

Belmar said those resorting to violence are not protesters.

CNN

Not all is lost. There are peaceniks who simply commandeer a microphone, because "Black Lives Matter".

Common thread is lack of civility, practiced by Michael Brown.

Maybe opportunism?

I know that was a cheap shot.

Is it any different of any other activist, be they hold government office or otherwise profit?

I don't shoot at cops.

I don't travel halfway across the nation to thuggishly take over a planned event.

I don't apologize for pointing out the irrational actions of a violent thug, much less make him an symbol of a cause.

It's your history, when you lot chucked us Brits out because you felt hard done by, you got some activists together and they behaved thuggishly throwing our tea into Boston harbour...................or something.

Probably brought on by a deep feelings of injustice, with no recourse other than wrecking a planned event (the movement of our tea)

When I first read that my first thought it had something to do with our revolution against the Crown. I did Google it and came up with the Boston Tea Party.

"Thuggish" wouldn't be the first word to come to mind, but I can work with that. It certainly was a criminal act of conversion for the sake of making a point.

Would I have been a part of that?

It is unfair for me to say one way or another.

It is said that during that time a third of the population were for separation, a third loyal and the remaining were indifferent. Only answer I can give to that is it depends on what my situation was.

When thinking of such things it reminds me of George Washington.

“Washington fought against the French and the Indians...when he was a British officer.

Evan Thomas, Professor, Princeton University

The Americans call it The French and Indian War but the British rather inaccurately refer to it as The Seven Years War – it starts in 1754 and ends nine years later in 1763. Washington’s commissioned a lieutenant colonel.

But though his belief in his mother country, England, has been shaken, Washington still seeks an officer’s commission in the British Army. He may be a Colonel in the militia but the lowliest British officer technically outranks him. His application’s rejected:

“He was turned down for a leadership position in the British military, and was embittered by that.

Mark Feldstein, Professor, University of Maryland

Washington sees himself as essentially English, and yet even after loyal military service, England regards him as second class. The British Empire would come to regret its rejection.

George Washington | HISTORY

I could see myself as a Tory.

All things considered, the world is a better off that we seperted.

My point?

That sometimes getting angry and breaking the law is the last resort to unyielding authority.

When injustice is not addressed people rise up, same way back then, same today.

There are those that will take advantage of any situation, on both sides of the argument, nothing is black and white.

There is black and white, as the looters, liars, political hacks all know too well.

When Michael Brown choose to attack a peace officer, in what world could anyone expect a good outcome?

What good outcome could anybody expect after looting and burning down the local grocery store could bring?

What good is it to ruin the life of Darren Wilson, the victim in all this?

Maybe you don't see it, but I am not color blind when it comes to right and wrong.

I don't know how many years after the Watts riots before anybody would invest any amount of money into that neighborhood.

There were some willing to take the risk, not the major stores.

I mentioned the Watts riots.

What I didn't mention is that it was estimated that only like 3or4% of the population were involved in the looting etc.

I have empathy for the 95% plus who had to suffer the criminal activities of the 3 or 4 percent.

I suspect the same is in Ferguson.

You may have heard over and over and over, but have you listened, really listened ?

Listened to the words, filtering out your own and their bias, filtered out their attitude, their anger ?

I'm not saying anything personal here, TD, you told this story yourself on board.

Tude was raised in public housing, population being mostly poor black, probably was gang-infested. As part of the white minority, you were probably picked on. Maybe there is even some anger at the parent(s) who forced you to spend your childhood this way. This is where your racism began. Make no mistake, you are a racist, & these are the experiences you refer to in a post in this thread. These experiences were your teachers.

I'm not denying this was hard for you, but it's time to stop blaming, understand not every white has had such poor relationships with blacks; indeed, have known fine people who happen to be black. Time to face it, see your experiences for what they were & grow out of them.

Or not. It's up to you. As for the Kenyan in the White House, the Kansas Kenyan---we should give up hyphenated Americans. Where were your folks from? Is that how you describe yourself?

I see both sides of the argument. Was Michael Brown an angry product of a poverty-stricken and hardship-twisted background? Does American society deserve some responsibility for that? Most likely. Did Michael Brown bully, steal, become violent and therefore bear some responsibility for what happened to him? Also likely.

There are lots of things in my life I feel are viciously unfair, wrong, and even criminal. Things so bad they sometimes make me despair just as Michael Brown must have. The brutally unfair charges that the health profession racks up, the unfairness of education, the growing separation of income inequality in America come to mind.

But each person must take the responsibility, personally, to try to make changes legally and without violence. Ghandi, King, Mandella, and a host of others have proved that is possible.

Brown lost any sympathy from me when he turned violent as a way to deal with his unfair life.
