I thought I might as well ask.

Donald Trump?

This is a chap who blatantly can't win any form of public office, least of all the US Presidency. What on earth is he doing? Does he get some sort of satisfaction from constantly humiliating himself on an international scale? I mean, I'm in England and even I wince every time he hits the headlines.

Today I wake up to see that he's criticized John McCain, of all people, with the throwaway insult "I like people who weren't captured". I'm surprised he's not gone so far as to accuse Senator McCain of handing his warplane over to the North Vietnamese while defecting.

And Donald Trump's war consisted of "avoiding service through student and medical deferments"?

He cannot be serious. Why's he standing? What does he get out of it?

Strikes me, and I haven't really been following this particular 'event', that it could well be a case of somebody who has so much money and can't think of anything else to spend money on, trying his hand at politics to amuse himself. I could be wrong of course ! Heaven help everybody if such a person should ever 'con' America into giving him political power !

The man is an arse of the highest order. Everything I've read about him reinforces my view he is an arse.

How does such a moronic imbicile get to be so successful ? The world is full of intelligent charismatic people who dont "make it" and this dopey twat is worth billions of dollars.

He's the arse who tried to bully a Scottish farmer into selling land so he could build a golf course....and failed

God help us all if the American people thought it was a good idea to give him political power.

I believe he inherited his wealth and that his father was a good all round guy, obviously only the money got passed down.

The scary part is that he is actually leading the pack in many polls. I was reading comments of facebook this morning about that comment.

Here are a few that I find interesting:

McCain is a turncoat .He's voted with obama too many times and now I'm questioning Perry's stance on everything . Trump is saying what most Americans want to hear . .Hope he follows thruugh . He's the only GOP that's not bought and paid for or has made politics his golden goose !
Dear Mr Trump, I pray that Your Love for America and TRUTH continues to Lead you to VICTORY and Undo the evil Laws Forced upon us by this Anti-American Hoax president that mocked & disgraced the Courage and Virility of manhood in our nation! God bless you!
Donald, everyone is running scared of you and they are digging down into the bottom of their barrels to try to bash you! You stay strong and keep on doing exactly what you are doing! By all means let him enthuse his party's adherents to the point where he wins the primaries, he's still unelectable by the country as a whole. Democrats should be registering as Republicans just so they can foist the man onto the party as the Republican Presidential candidate for 2016. And 2020, why not.

It was you told me that I am sure, whilst we were admiring Trump Tower.

I took exception to him by watching his attitude on The Apprentice.

Trouble is the public are looking for a straight talking no nonsense self confident bloke.......thats how our Trump chump, Farage has got so much attention.

Only if it succeeds.

If The Donald gets into the White House as anything more than a visitor, we are in the deep stuff.

And I'd take 8 years of more Bush, over The Donald, any day.

We're so far from the election at this point that not much matters in the way of polls and opinions. The people Trump is attracting are mostly those to the extreme right; more moderates are barely paying attention, the media's attention grabbing articles notwithstanding.

What Trump might be doing though is shielding Bush from criticism from the rest of the candidates by deflecting all the attention onto himself. Whether it's a strategy or simple convenience makes little difference.

It was always a matter of regret to me that Mr Farage never acquired a liking for black leather uniforms with deaths-head flashes on the lapels, and large open tourer cars with running boards. Perhaps Mr Trump will take up the theme in his stead.

Or he hides it very well. Of course he has time, depends on the way the wind blows.
