Papal pigrims to face Christianity Quiz

Post by capt_buzzard »

NON-EU tourists requesting visas to visit Germany for the Pope's first pilgrimage abroad are being asked questions about their knowlege of Christianity.

The measure by Germany is designed to prevent a wave of illegal immigration, especially from the Balkans.

More than a million young believers are expected to attend the World Youth Conference in August 2005 when Pope Benedict XV1 will make his first papal trip.

I like it. A nice way to prevent illegal immigration. Learn about christianity, pass the quiz, and get in to Germany legally.

This seems very strange to me.....would it be acceptable to ask all folk attending a soccer match to explain the offside rule for example???!

What kind of Christianity? As a non catholic I would have real difficulty answering questions on catholicism. Although of course going to see the pope is not likely to be on my agenda. I would have thought protestant germans would have a similar problem, although as eu citizens I don't suppose it is a problem.

In Austria you have to opt out of church taxes

Personally I'd say it is a load of nonsense but knowing what I know about the Vatican it is probably ture.

Unbelievable.

I guess Buddhists and Hindus et al. will not get to see the pope. I do sometimes wonder if they even care.

I do have it on a good source that Mother Church must avoid scandal at all cost. Perhaps it is just an attempt to avoid any negativity.

On the other hand whatever happened to Cardinal Law and the fiddling priests that he shipped all over the place? And what, exactly, did happen to Pope John Paul I?

It is my understanding that this Pope supports the following organization.

Thanks but no thanks. I've heard too much about this outfit.

It is not likely that we will ever know for sure though I know there is a lot of speculation out there.

It would also be interesting to know why Hitler was never excommunicated. He was pretty close to the personification of all that is evil in the world. I guess it depends on who your friends are.
