The Rutland Earthquake

Bang under Cottesmore Airfield, apparently, where the Vulcans used to fly from.

Did anyone feel the ground move? Half an hour ago, this was.

The Rutland Earthquake

Anything special going on around there lately? The story I just looked at said they had earthquakes two days in a row last April also.
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

I don't know if either of those areas are subject to fracking or not.

The quake was directly below where the UK's nuclear deterrent used to be stored in the 60s, after we abandoned Blue Streak and before we deployed the Polaris subs. Well, I expect there were a few there for years after that but they're surely gone by now. Maybe one of the old tunnels collapsed.

The BBC has revealed the true cause of the Rutland Earthquake...

"British Geological Survey seismologist Paul Denton lives in Oakham himself"

Stands to reason then. Any town where a British Geological Survey seismologist lives is bound to attract them sometime or other.

BBC News - Oakham earthquake recorded at 3.8 in magnitude

I'd swear the first report said Cottesmore though.
