Where Does Gitmo Fit In? The Long, Winding History Of Prison Camps

Post by Bryn Mawr »

I came across an interesting presentation :-

Where Does Gitmo Fit In? The Long, Winding History Of Prison Camps

The promised closure of the camps at Guantanamo Bay has, like most campaign promises, proved to be nothing but hot air. The link shows something of the financial cost of keeping it open but what of the social cost - both to the psyche of the US and to their image worldwide?

Should it be closed?

Will it be closed?

It should be. And it will be, eventually. Unfortunately, a Presidential candidate makes promises that they cannot keep, because there are often things going on that are not learned about until they take office.

I am sure that a lot of the problems the current President has faced are direct result of the partisanship he has been dealing with most of the time he has been in office.

Unless we come to our collective senses before the next election, I doubt it will be much better with the next administration.

Sorry.
