The man was an inspiration, and probably smoothed the transition from the old Aprathied regime in South Africa.
I am sure there are some differing opinions, but from what little I have read, it could have been very different if not for him.

You're quite right Bruv I know personally people who have immigrated here becasue their lives were in danger. Whites I'm afraid. So understand the rumours. There are certain ares whites should never go to in SA. but I guess you could say htat in a lot of places around the world.

In 1994 The Republic of South Africa "officially" became a democracy when a non-racial government formed by the ANC came to power.
However some time before that when FW De Klerk and the white National Party were still in power, most of the really hurtful legislation had been expunged from the statute book. I'm referring to the Immorality Act which made sex across the colour line illegal, the Mixed Marriages Act which forbade whites from marrying people of colour, and the Group Areas Act which forced each racial group to reside in specifically demarcated areas.
So by the time that the late Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was released from prison, people of all colours were living together, going to school together, playing sport together and freely marrying and having sex together.
The result of this is that there is right now living in South Africa an entire generation who has never lived under "Apartheid." Black, white and coloured kids and young adults work, play and socialise together simply because they have been doing so all their lives. I once asked a white kid of about eight or nine what his black friend was like. "He's just like me," he replied, "except he's black."
So I would not pay much attention to those South Africans who have emigrated as they did so hastily and without a great deal of rational thought. They would offer the excuse that "there lives were in danger" in an attempt to justify their silliness.
Of course there is crime here, of course there is corruption here, of course there are areas where it would not be safe to be on a dark night ... this is after all a third world country in Africa.
But there is also a great deal of love here, a great deal of tolerance, a great deal of understanding and a great deal of togetherness ... As much and perhaps even more than you would find in your average European country.
I watch Sky News and CNN every day and sometimes when watching and listening to their reports on the horrific crimes committed there have to pinch myself to make sure that these are actually happening in so called "civilised" countries.
After watching a British soldier chosen by Allah being hacked to death in broad daylight in a street, given the number of Muslims living there, I might be concerned if I lived in London.
Crime knows no boundaries and is seldom if ever confined only to certain places, towns and countries. One could be concerned enough to easily want to leave any country if such an atrocity occurred on a regular basis.,

As I said, i don't know South Africa, but in my mind, there must be some who have no qualms exploiting racial differences like is done here.

I was watching TV when Mandela walked out and made that first speech, the white supremacists had every reason to be terrified that the blacks would take revenge on them had mandela called for it there would have been a bloodbath. I couldn't agree more and the author of that article even said that their economy would go supernova if we could interact in free trade again. Can you imagine a max cap on your weekly salary, much less at $20? You'd be basically working for free. I don't understand how that works, does the state provide room and board?
