Would You Like To Be Embalmed?

Only after I'm dead, thank you.

Our oldest daughter has now decided to make a career change, and is studying to be a mortician.

If I stick around another year or so, perhaps I can get a family discount.

I like the idea of a green burial but I'd be happy with cremation. The idea of my chemically preserved body encased in an overpriced casket makes me feel a little nauseated.

Does the idea of a liquified, moldy, bug and worm infested body encased in a very inexpensive cloth sack appeal to you?

Yes it does, actually. I like the idea of being fertilizer for a big oak.

I like the big Oak idea except I prefer my cremated remains to do the job.

But, look at all the wasted hydrocarbons.

I mean, 1) how much energy is consumed to properly cremate the average human? and 2) how much potential nutrient for plants could the average human provide.

I say we start making memorial gardens real gardens.

Hence cremation. Scattered to the winds. Ashes to ashes.

No embalming for me. Either my cremated ashes will be used to fertilize a tree or there is a company that will incorporate them into a large fireworks rocket for scattering in a way that will make someone smile.
