If the sun represents Visnu the moon, Siva. The argument which is greater Visnu or Siva simply opened the portal for Kaliyuga to come into our lives.
Followers of Visnu say Siva`s effulgence or moonlight is but a reflection of Visnu`s radiant light. In reality however, there`s no greater or inferior between the two because they are both simultaneously one & yet they differ. One sustains life while the other destroys.
It was here, the great war between Good & Evil started with this argument, who`s greater Visnu or Siva, God or Satan. Those who follow Visnu & Siva who were killed in the war were entombed on earth & reborn as human beings. Even though they now belong to humanity, the reborn Visnu & Siva followers still continue to argue who is greater, the sun (Visnu) or moon ( Siva).
That`s the reason why followers of Visnu & Siva who did not die during the war visit earth regularly to help both realize that what they fought for was simply an illusion. The words Good & Bad, Angels & Demons, Sinners & Saints are all a misnomer. There really is no such thing to those who were able to transcend this illusion.

The 3 stars. The 3 suns. They were siblings of the One Mega star. The eldest sibling died & became planet earth inhabited with innumerable forms brought to life from the middle sibling star effulgence. Unfortunately, the middle sibling star also later died. With no light of her own to support earth's inhabitants, they too, died. The latter became the moon & the former the new earth. On it countless non-animated forms appeared animated from the light of the youngest sibling star, the sun. In other words, the sun, earth & the moon were sibling stars of the one father the Mega star. If the 3, the sun, earth & moon were persons, Krishna's the sun, the earth Radha & the moon, Balaram or Siva.

The Self is the origin of every experience. Like explained in Yoga Vasistha.
The proper way to worship, self realization. Some call this self vishnu, shiva being nothing but the Self aware of itself, achieved by his exemplary meditation.
Thus shiva is in truth Vishnu aware of itself. Any fully realized being becomes ShivA by realizing Vishnu or thr Self, also called Brahman.
