Bristolians Any Suggestions?

Post by koan »

A friend who spent fair time in good 'ol, is starting a restaurant with a British flair in Toronto. I think he's trying to find a British sounding name that has camp and would appeal to the "hip" crowd. Any suggestions? Perhaps you have no idea what outsiders would identify with y'all... but I need a start.

Cabot Circus.... It's a little groovy for the hip crowd but also has historic connections with the US.

John Cabot landed In North America from Bristol England around 1497

BBC - History - John Cabot

We have a Shopping Mall named after him In Bristol

Hmmm. I see the link but it should be something that NAmericans identify with readily or intuitively. That's why I like the Snooty Moose. lol

We know Piccadilly Circus, Scarborough Fair, Covent Garden, London Bridge, Tower of London, Salisbury Plain/Stonehenge, The Tube...

hmmm. If he was a deli, "The Tube" isn't bad. lol

Bristol Fashion. All camp followers know it means falling over sideways onto the mud twice a day so for a drinking establishment it's perfect. It also implies over-engineered I think but that's secondary.

How about The Blackboy? It would be hard to get more Bristolian than that.

About two foot six after the dockyard get hold of it - the very best of luck to him :-)
