If you consider that there have been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraqi theater during the last 22 months, that gives a firearm death ratio of 60 per 100,000.
The firearm death ratio in DC is 80.6 per 100,000. That means that you are more likely to be shot and killed in our Nation's Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.
Conclusion: We should immediately pull out of WASHINGTON, DC!
I recieved this from someone I consider to be reliable but I haven't been able to verify the numbers. Does anyone know if the numbers reflect reality or not?

! I like the conclusion.
I saw this quote before. I thought the conclusion was that these stats only include deaths of U.S. servicemen. There's still a big problem of deaths within the Iraqi population. (Shootings between Iraqis.)

I didn't consider that. The numbers could be off a quite a bit and still carry a significant message. WOW!!!
I just thought of one more thing. The people killed with firearms in DC are mostly young men, much like Iraq.

D.C. is my hometown. it always was dangerous. in the shadow of Capitol Hill. in Lafayette park across from the white house where the homeless sleep. on the bus through anacostia. i used to go to the smithsonian every weekend. but had to travel through very bad areas. my Dad was not happy, but it was "leave it to beaver" days.he did not know what i saw on that route.

About ten years ago, I was driving on a street just north of the capitol when the car in front of me stopped. There were two men standing in the street, blocking traffic while one sold the other something in a small bag. Rather bold, I thought.

What amazed me when I visited DC was unlike other cities the areas you walked in did not detiorate slowly, in London or New York I have found that the area graduallyy gets more run down and you get a notion that you might want to turn around, however in DC I went from lovely big Clapboard (is that the right term?) to severely dangeropus streets in the space of about 200 yards.
it was all worth it however for the Aeronautical museum, and I got to wave at George Bush snr. I was loitering in the vicinity of the Whie house when the motorcade swept out, not sure he saw me as he did not wave back

Yeah, they say you can prove anything with statistics! Another good one, if most accidents are proved to happen in the home, then stay outside all day and night and there won`t be so many accidents

Take a look at the stats for Baltimore, a little to the north. Guns all over the place, schools are very unsafe. (I am too aware of this, this is where I teach)

I read someplace that the most dangerous creature on the face of the earth is a human male between 17 and 25 years old. Not because of machismo but because of hormones. I remember. I had NO fear and I thought I had all the answers.
