British bird watchers...... help please
I have just had a bird on my bird table that i have never seen before so here we go again.
Due to painting this time, my books are not ready to hand so has anyone got any idea's.
It was larger than a blackbird.
It had what seemed to be a large 'puffed' chest.
The breast and head was a deep golden brown colour.
The wings and eyes were black.
I wondered if it could be a 'Mistle Thrush' chick but it was far too large to be a chick.
Any idea's folks?

Could it be a female blackbird. Theyre like a large thrush but a much darker brown. The mistle thrush has a spotted underbelly.
I'm trawling my books as we speak

This time of year there are a lot of youngens about. What about a juvenile starling that has just about reached full size but hasnt got its rainbow colouring. They would have that kind of colouring you describe

Thanks but no....... I'm fortunate to have a varied species come to the garden so i recognise young starlings and blackbirds. This was quite unlike anything i have ever seen before. It was also rather large. It also have a largish black beak if that helps.

Is it a Jay? :wah: No...... not a jay..... at first glance, i did think a Jay due to the size. It was similar size to a Jay but as i do get Jays around here..... no definately not. I've been googling like mad and can't find anything like it. Before anyone says it....... NO it was not a golden eagle.

I've managed to get out one of my books and it's not a female blackbird. In fact, i can' see it anywhere in the book or the site that was posted.
With global warming and Continental species turning up in Britain, i am really wondering now.
