Amber Alert-Michigan

The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters teamed with local police to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children. AMBER stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnaped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, and then brutally murdered. Other states and communities soon set up their own AMBER plans as the idea was adopted across the nation.

AMBER Alert Issued for 9 Year Old MIchigan Boy

The State of Michigan issued the Amber Alert Saturday morning (6-20) after the boy was reportedly abducted in Inkster earlier Saturday morning. THe boy's mother, Carrie Clem, was also abducted and both are believed to be in extreme danger. Inkster is a suburb of Detroit.

Andrew Clem a 9 year old white male with brown eyes and strawberry blond hair.

The suspect is William Southard, a 30 year old white male.

The suspect vehicle is a 1998 Red Chevrolet Cavalier with tag number CAE-0781.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Inkster Police Department at 313-563-9873 or dial 911.
