Like the people who are walking at a fast pace in the mall and your right behind them because they're making such good time thru the mall? Then they stop short so you run into them. Obviously, those people are wanting to head backwards!

brings my to my usual ponderings of backwards and backs and such...

when you talk behind someones back...are you in fact facing them?? Geographically speaking...where is "behind your back?"

How excited some get right before a big storm. I get moderate to severe anxiety, depending on how big it is and if it could produce tornados.

You should never take a dog on a space shuttle because he might stick his head out the window and burn his face off.

If a child asks you why it's raining, reply "God is crying." If the child asks you why, tell them, "it's probably something you did."

Naming of downtown "holiday tree" sparks controversy

Dec 8, 2005, 07:19 PM CST

There is a brewing controversy in Nashville over the naming of a city tree. Some council members are upset that the city is calling the downtown tree a "Holiday Tree" because they want it referred to as a "Christmas Tree."

Metro councilmen Adam Dread and other members say it is absurd that Metro is calling the tree a holiday tree. They are now drafting a proposal to call it a Christmas tree as soon as possible.

"We just have gotten so ridiculously politically correct about everything. Christmas is on the 25th of December. There's nothing wrong with saying Merry Christmas. I mean it just kind of demonstrates about how ridiculously politically correct people have gotten," said Dread.

Hedy Weinberg of the ACLU disagrees and says this isn't a big deal and she prefers "Holiday Tree."

"If these folks want to say, 'We only want to focus on the Christian community and we insist that the tree be called a Christmas tree', we're not going to argue with it. It's unfortunate. It's certainly not very embracing of all of Nashville," said Weinberg.

The mayor's office says the calling of "Holiday Tree" isn't new and the tree has always been called this. They say the tree is lit on December 1, stands until January 1 and celebrates more than one holiday.

Metro council members hope to have the tree name changed officially by December 20th, just in time for Christmas.
