It's still very specific to UK posters though. We discuss US news but the yanks have a hard time grasping UK politics since all our parties are pinko commie outposts of the Soviets.

I could understand that Abbey if everyone on FG lived in the UK. That's not to say that I and other Yanks are not interested in what goes on in the rest of the world, but some of the postings are not of a national nature, but regional. Would anyone in the UK really be interested if I posted something in the General Chit Chat about the resignation of my city's mayor? Those of us that have been on FG don't have any trouble picking and choosing what we read and what interests us. But if FG wishes to attract a fresh audience and them keep them, I think it's important that we not be perceived as a UK or US only forum. Someone checking out FG initially could get that impression. Finally, just what is the purpose of having the different forums if they are not to be used?
Just a thought on trying to make FG better. Maybe I am wrong.

Would you consider the resignation of Hilary Clinton to be a regional affair equivalent to the resignation of your city mayor rather than of a national nature?
The resignation of our Home Secretary is directly analogous to Hilary being forced out.

OK------------Good point, but then what is the purpose of all the different Forum categories. Let's just have everything in General Chit Chat.

Personally I just pick up in threads that look interesting without really noticing what part of the forum it is in. There are also one or two posters whose threads I will look at as a matter of course.
To us this is a current event and it's political and highly topical-the UK is in the middle of a massive constitutional crisis that's going to have repercussions for years to come. The knock on effect will be tremendous.
If you are going to be pedantic about it why is there a section on healthcare listed under current events and so many posts on the american healthcare system in current events? Same with the gun control. both of these issues are purely regional concerns and completely irrelevant to non US Posters-albeit quite interesting in an anthropological kind of way-but hardly of world wide import. Nor are things like an abortion doctor being shot in america anything more than a purely regional event but clearly such things are current and of interest to those starting the thread. So is it really worth while worrying about what is regional and what is not? I don't have a problem with Americans talking about current events that are significant only to them in the current events forum even if it is completely insignificant outside of the states. If it's interesting I'll follow it if not i won't bother. If it bothers you don't read the thread. But I think you lose a lot if you ignore something just because you think it is purely regional-you might just get a different perspective ion things.
On the other hand the complete destruction of the UK political establishment-which is what is actually happening-is quite topical. We chip in to your (US) discussions on regional politics -you know things like your presidential elections and worries about the socialist takeover of America etc. etc. feel free to do the same in ours.
I suppose from your perspective things like discussions about the eu are regional as well. Maybe you need top broaden your horizons:D

Well said, if you are not interested in the subject of a particular post then you don't read it, if you are you do.
As to the destruction of the UK political establishment, perhaps it would be a good thing if they all went and we made a complete new start, because lets face it, if we as private individuals had done what they have done, we would be being investigated by the police and probably end up in prison. Why is there one rule for them and another one for the general public?
