that was certainly an emotional roller-coaster ride. Which ever side you were on, let's all take a deep breath now and say a prayer for her. :-1

AMEN thank God this nightmare for Terri is finally over.. :-1 My heart is sad I will pray that she is now at peace, and the awful saga is now over..

I hope Michael (so called husband) will see Terri every time he shuts his eyes..!!

I can say with all my heart Terri may not have wanted to live like she was, but I'm equally as certain that she wouldn't have wanted to be STARVED TO DEATH..

REST IN PEACE TERRI !! :-6

evidently the acrimony continued to the last minute, and continues still. her brother Bobby had an altercation with LE and michael refused to let him in the room in Terri's last moments. now there will be further fighting over her corpse, the parents want her buried in florida, michael wants her cremated and taken to PA.~~~~~~~also, a cardinal at the vatican today characterized Terri's death as a murder.

What madness!!!

Maybe they should just go private now with this and someone can force compassion upon both sides and just do right by the woman. Gawd here is where I would wish for life after death and I would so come back as a Dark and Ominous person and wreak havoc on those who turned my last years into a 12 ring circus.

You're right on TW. That poor woman made a fortune for the pet cults of the Republicans. Now I guess they'll have to bomb some more women's clinics again. It's good they won't have a site for her. The nutjobs would keep their sick circus going forever.

How is she to rest in peace? A time when the family should come together, they are torn apart. Her condition has been made into a circus between the media and government. I don't think resting in peace will come for a long, long time.

This is one of the first situations I can remember where there are absolutely no winners anywhere.

Congress took a hit for getting involved at all.

The parents lost their court battles.

Michael is vilified and demonized for the rest of his life.

The press looks bad for turning it into a circus.

Teri, herself, died and can't even get a decent burial.

Nothing but losses all round. It's sad.

he can be sued for wrongful death if the autopsy proves he was abusive , the nursing home aan be sued for wrongful death if they find something that was negletful. If they find that the brain was not of a veg. way. they can be sued , he can sued, and the courts can be sued. and if that happens the Justice Department oer and the Fbi can get involed. Look up floridia statued on wrongful death. But I bet somekind of legal proceeding will occure. The parents can sue anyone they want for anything. Just like we can. :-5

any alleged abuse she suffered 15 years ago will be unproveable. it's my understanding the hospice took excellent care of her, it was never alleged otherwise. as i said, anyone can sue anyone for anything, but since a circuit court judge ordered the tube removed, there is no cause of action. oh, and i KNOW my florida statutes. not sure about statues though.

I was thinking the same thing. Any injuries will have healed. Any poisons will have been purged.

The parents wanted independent autopsy observation, but that seems to imply that the state coronor is incompetent or has some political agenda. I don't think that's true, he's a professional.

not if commmon sense would tell you some of those like a reportly broken pelvis fraction, cannot come from rehab, or any otheir kind of therapy. They also said their was a paramedic that would not speak after the intial accident . saying he did not want to get involed. You know I don't know why everyones so quick to parade this man Micheal Schiavo a saint.

Even Bill orielly has called him a villian. I don't like Bill orielly. And he said thursday or friday about her being given to the parents for burial. If this was your child. I know if this was my child I would ask everything to be done and investigated. This whole thing could well be some conspiracy, See Rush's website. To find out how the party's have connection. To the hospic;. He took someone child away, he possibly abused her. Baby's come from us. They return us . He was done with her . He didn't wanted to be obligated anymore. you know I don't care if he is a lurtherin, I don't care if he stayed at hospital for two weeks. he was hiding because he knows the world thinks he's a villian.I don't care if he held her when she died. He probably whispered thankgod I am going to be free. He has problem with Control, he always needs to be in control. That's why he never let her go. Not even in Death.

at this point i don't believe ANYTHING about this whole affair. there appears to have been no shortage of ugliness with all involved in it on both sides. i don't know schiavo's motives, and i don't know if terri could have been rehabilitated. there is a huge swath of rumor and innuendo about all involved, i don't think there's an impartial source regarding it anywhere.

the despicable thing here is that this became a public 'event'. regardless of what outcome terri would have wanted, i think it's reasonable to presume she would not have wanted to be at the center of a circus - media, ideological, tabloid, what-have-you - by partisans at two extremes of what is fundamentally a personal issue, and one which would not have been an issue had she had a living will.

Moral of the story: make a living will. let YOUR desires be codified, so this won't happen to you.

to be a bit more accurate, fill out an Advance Healthcare Directive. there's inexpensive software for it, and lots of places have them pre-printed. fill it out, it's only a few major choices and any specific personal choices you want to add, and sign it in the presence of a notary. then you'll never be the center of a circus like terri.

LEGALLY speaking.

have you asked her what her wishes are should her condition deteriorate, and she's no longer able to make decisions for herself? have you codified those wishes via an advance healthcare directive?

whether you should 'pull the plug' is a matter for your mother to decide, when the time should come. without her wishes being codified, she'll be at the mercy of whomever has been conferred the power to make those decisions, and they may not be what she would have chosen.

Randall Terry.. oh joy. Now there is a fine upstanding Christian. Yep.. advocating violence against anyone that doesn't agree with his warped interpretation of the bible. That man and his followers are sick, demented, discriminatory ..etc etc. etc..

Question for you KM.. how do you know that Michael even did anything wrong..you have no proof, short of conspiracy theories. And as far as debating calmy.. hell you can't even spell much less discuss something this important on rational level.

OK, whether or not we agree on the Schiavo issue, let's all agree that we wouldn't want to be in either side's shoes on this one. Here is the official living will site by the government. jay leno endorsed this one on the Tonight Show and it's a good one. It even has printable wills

It's worth noting that the site is not a government site, it is privately owned and operated. while they say that you can register for free through 'member healthcare providers and community partners', i could find none in my area - in the greater San Francisco bay area, nor any near my mom's location, on the SF peninsula, an area extremely well populated with hospitals, nursing homes, etc etc etc. If you can't register via a healthcare provider, it'll cost you $25.
