Looking to see if I'm in the minoritity!

Do you usually drive over the posted speed limits, and if so, how much faster do you speed?

5mph, 10mph, 20mph or ??????

Have you ever gotten a ticket for doing so?

5-10 mph above the posted speed if the road is clear. I've never had a ticket. :)

Now when I'm back home, out in the desert, gosh 70 seems like a slow pace at times. Usually the flow, if any, is around 80 mph.

Most of my life, I have always driven up to 10mph over the speed limit on single carriageways and up to 20mph over on dual carriageways; even when passing speed cameras. Nonetheless, over the last decade, I have been caught out by two hand held police cameras and one rogue roadside camera. I think that the points have now done their time on my licence.

Nowadays, I have slowed down a bit. But, this is more due to the fact that I don't get on with my current car than any effort on my part to keep to the speed limits.

Unlike a lot of people, driving relaxes me. As it has been proven, people in a relaxed state have better response times than stressed people.

I will admit I have a heavy foot. I seldom do the speed limit, but I'm not really out of synk with the rest of the drivers and/or the area I am in.

I do not speed near school zones or in those residential areas which have houses upon houses next to one another and I'm very watchful for animals in rural areas.

I have been stoped for speeding more times than I was ticketed, but all this when I was much younger. It has been a very long time since I have been stoped and then it was out of state, you know how that goes.....................

I am now a more mature and responsible person.

I drive to speed limit through towns and villages, if someone should choose to ride on my back bumper through these restricted areas I have been known to slow down even more just to irritate :D.

Bypasses and motorways I speed, but always make sure there is someone else going faster than me ;) Never been caught.

I do that too. I will slow down and keep slowing down until they pass me or back off. I may enjoy driving fast, but I'm very aware of the dangers. Actually once had someone so close to my tail that I couldn't see their radiator grille in my rear view mirror and that was on the M1. Stupid. And when they eventually passed me, I saw that they had two kids in the back of their car.

Out on the open road, 5 mph over the speed limit.

In a residential or heavy traffic area, I go the speed limit or less.

I don't love driving fast so much as accelerating fast. Other than that, I like to get to my destinaton quickly.

On the open road I do 5 over the limit.

Never been booked as yet.

Out here it is a given that you can go over a bit.

I test drove an Audi A8 today. It could exceed most limits by about 100mph so since I usually drive a little under the limit it would last a long time.:-2

Hmmm in school and playground zones, of course the speed limit. Residential I do the speed limit, on the freeway usually about 10k over now on the hiway however.... I have got up to fairly high over the speed limit (20 - 40 k over I know bad bad bad but an open highway with no traffic is a wonderfilled thing)

I have had only 1 speeding ticket in my life.

Cars, I'm not a fast driver. I just keep up with the traffic. So if the speed limit is 65 and traffic is doing 80, then I'll do 80 so I won't be in the way and harassed.

I don't mean any disrespect to truck drivers, but....On my many trips to Florida through the Carolinas I thought I would be killed by the trucks. There are only 2 lanes and both lanes had trucks that were doing 100mph.

So, as not to give myself a heart attack, I drove the fastest that I could and just let the trucks move around me. Thankfully they did.

By the time I got to my destination, I kissed the ground to be alive:D

I tend to drive according to conditions......if there's not a lot of traffic and the weather is good I'll go 5 to 10 MPH over the limit on freeways. In town or on two lane roads, I pretty much stick to the limit to maybe 5 over, again depending on the conditions and weather.......

I've never gotten a "speeding" ticket! As whenever there were radar traps set, I was going with the traffic flow, & did not out pass the others, so . .

I mostly stick to the speed limit or even 5 miles under, depends on what the speed limit is. But I usually have my kids in the car so I prefer going slower. :-6

most trucks on the road are governed somewhere in the 60's meaning they do not have the ability to go above that speed. :-6

I think KE is talking about I-95 which is completely insane! the drivers on that highway are complety nuts. they will practically run you over or up your tailpipe, explains lots of accidents, etc.

Here in the good ol Sunshine state, they must have taken off the governors! As on I95 (6 lane highway) last week, I was going 73-75mph (posted limit 70) and most of the 18 wheelers were passing me bye at a good clip! One even came right up my tailpipe, before veering off left into the next lane, and wizzed on past! :wah:
