I had put up new new threads last night.

they were both rated 5

today one is rated a 2 and one a 3.

why is it that someone can come along and lower the ratings on one's threads?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and on, 'which method works best for weight loss of you'

then tags it............fat peeps sweat?

nasty brit for saying that!

Better question is: Who's rating them?

I thought once a thread was rated, no one could change it?

-and to go in and LOWER the ratings of one's threads?

that's just evil, go and rate your own lower.

several mods are on-line right now, perhaps they can answer these?

It's an average of the vote. If one person rates it a 5 and another a 1, the average is 3. If more people rate it a one, it will go lower. if more people rate it 5, it will go higher.

eta: no one has rated this thread yet, so I did. I gave it 4 stars. If several people rate it 5 stars, the rating will go up.

Hope that helps. :)

Acc is correct. If one person scores a 5 then some score a 3 the ratio goes down. The rating is an overall rating score and its a shame that some peeps like to just rate threads a 1 or 2, I think its mean, why bother rating it at all..

Goint to check out your weight loss thread now:-5

acc voted it 4 stars

If I rate a thread I always rate it 5 stars or not bother, now this thread is at 5 stars. My vote raised the rate to 5.

The rating system's been around forever, but only recently started being used alot. I think it has some connection with the casino.

I'd always thought it was silly, rating threads, but I still find myself getting caught up in it. Usually if I see a thread rated at 1 or 2 stars, I'll rate it 5 just to bring the numbers up, regardless of what I really think of the thread itself.

the four was fine, but the other one with a 2?

I cant say i'm afraid, maybe they will see this post and change it as its not a nice tag and quite de motivating for peeps trying to lose weight and also its false as everyone sweats. We are waiting for a new rule to be written on tags and how to use them properly.:-6

I for one wished that the members could see who puts some of the nasty remarks up as human being humans always think its somebody who dont like them when in actual fact many are put up in fun by people who do like them and just dont realise how certain words like the ones we are talking about here can hurt.I am sure TS will bring some rules in regarding Tags that may make people think twice and in the meantime will urge any member who sees one to report it.

Blimey!.... I agree that if you can't be nice, why bother? No-one wants their threads that they've taken time to create for the enjoyment of others put down, that just isn't nice, but then I blame the system being in place not the user, if it's there peeps will use it either way as it's their right to do so.... I can't rate tags or see any ratings as a non-supporting member but just thought I'd add my two pence worth anyway :)

I've also never yet had the inclination to tag a thread, I'm not really sure what the tag thing is about yet as this is all new to me, maybe I will one day, but haven't done so yet..... having read a recent thread on tagging though, I'm sure members don't have the ability to know who tagged a thread and it's also not just limited to the British as far as I'm aware :-3

Just to add..... I don't think it's clever to use the tag system to upset others.

Really? You can't rate threads? I hope you just missed the feature, because that would be dumb if only supporting members are allowed an opinion. check that green stripe just at the top of this thread. See where the stars are and the word Rating? There should be a down arrow for you to rate the thread.

I definitely don't have the ability to rate a thread hunny.... I don't even see the feature because it's not available to me as a non-supporting member....:)

and why is it, I am not aloud to know who it was, as other members here have found out about their tags and who they were?

As far as I am aware, no members have been told who tags the threads, only mods know who has tagged them.

Accountable posted a thread on tags which was a lengthy discussion but only his deleted tags was talked out.

Id be interested to know who tells members who tagged what thread.

Well as Accountable created the tags and then wanted to know what happened to them, I think we can safely say thats not the same as members being told who created tags.

Best thing would be for people to stop being childish with the tag sysytem and use it for the purpose it was installed for.

I do not rate threads.

I do not tag threads.

I leave that business to others.

I come here to read.

I come here to post.

I come to visit with my Forum buddies.

I do not "rate" or "tag" friends.

I rate every thread 5 stars. The way I figure it, it is definitely better then the thread I didn't put up in its place..
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

To me now, there is no reason to rate a thread,

-some rate them a 1, which insults the person.

-some rate them a 5, the person who did that thread feels really good, then someone else comes along and demotes that rating.

so your right, what is the point?
