When I was in my early 20's I went to a meeting in Pennsylvania that featured group and private readings by eminent physics. Most of the attendees were pretty well off and my private reading and group sessions was paid for by a wealthy relative that was into this crap big time. In my private session I supposedly talked with my grandfather ( I barely knew him). The psychic went into a trance and a strange voice came from her, supposedly my grandfather. The conversation was meaningless and consisted of "how are you"? etc. Do I believe it. No!!! Two things that I discovered is that most of the people into this thing have lost loved ones that they just can't quite get over, secondly, there is too much money involved in these psychic things that give me cause for concern. Finally----------how come when they talk to aunt Rosie, she never tells where she hid the damn money. Conversations with the dearly departed are always meaningless and never revel anything of importance.

Not necessarily true, Lon.
Sometimes people need to believe that it doesn't all end. It helps them to cope with loss.
I've conveyed messages between people and their relatives before and not charged a thing. The messages always helped. An example would be a friend's grandmother. she showed me a dress and it turned out there was a humourous battle over which dress to bury her in and my friend had said the dress I was describing is the one she kept telling them her grandmother would want.
Didn't change my friend's life but it was a touching moment that made her feel better about life.
I've been to psychics, been friends with psychics and am psychic.

I love the responses!:yh_rotfl
The first time I went it was at a 'Psychic Fair'. I chose a male who claimed to assist police in investigating missing persons.
He got everything wrong..He said:
1. " You will meet a man that you will marry' I told him I was married already. (I took my wedding ring off before I went in to make him work a little:sneaky:).
2. "You hate fish" (he went on in detail about how much I disliked fish). I was like- What? I love fish. I love to fish. I love to eat fish!
3. "You get angry and violent when you drink alcohol" Wrong again! I am the most pleasant, level person.
I wanted my money back. But I guess thats what entertainment is about.

Koan,
I can truly appreciate the gift. I just get a kick out of the ones who fabricate everything and are not legit.

I must confess that there are things that I witnessed at this meeting in Pennsylvania that I cannot explain. A full materialization of someone that died in a jeep accident in Korea. The jeep flipped and he drowned in three feet of water. I did not know him well and can't say for sure it was him. No one at this meeting knew me or any thing about me, except the relative that paid the costs of the meetings and trip. I was encouraged at this meeting to try and develop my psychic abilities as no less than three of the physics said that they felt I had potential and could tell when we shook hands.
And now Koan, I will tell you a strange thing. Ever since I first joined FG I have felt a strange affinity toward you that I can't quite explain. For example----when someone posted a while back, asking what FG member you would like to meet in person, you were the first one that came to mind, although I never responded. Kinda strange eh?

yes but a professionally one, actually the best one in Toronto. He recorded everything for me, took him 2 complete tapes to read me, alot of what he said had happened, future wise, nothing.
my mom had also been to one as well, what she said to my mom did come true, and it was a very sad time.

I never have - but my mum did.
Well it was her nieghbour who had been and thought she had heard something that might be about my little brother so she urged my mother to go.
Mum went along more to please the nieghbour than anything else, my mum believes dead is dead end of..
Anyway it was in a sort of hall no registration or anything just go in take a seat kinda thing.
The readings started in the normal kind of way 'is there anyone who knows a ****'? ect then a half way through talking to someone else the woman turned to my mum and said 'there's a man singing in my head'
'thats nice for you 'said mum.
'No he's singing for you. he's an older man and the song is I'll take you home again Kathleen'
My mum just said ok and left it at that.
The point was although she never uses her full name it is Kathleen and her father knowing how much she hated it used to sing that song just to annoy her.
Her nieghbour had never met my grandfather or known my mothers full name nor had the pyschic..

I agree that there are a lot of hokey psychics that just found they could make a fair bit of money by scamming people. You find people like that all over. It's too bad as it gives others a bad name.
I truly believe that anyone can develop psychic ability, though. We all demonstrate moments of it at some point.

I had not ever really thought about this much so when I found my self hanging out in a chat room on a psychic web site it was sorta wierd, and when a reader just out of the 'blue' ask if he could please read me . I was uncomfortable and almost declined ,but went ahead for 'entertainment purposes' ,so into a reading room with a psychic in Scottland with a mod in London while was sitting here at home in New Mexico. My daughter's message came thur so loud and clear and so perfect that when the reading ended I was totally speechless and convinced.

I know I've posted this somewhere in the garden before. My mom went to one who told her she would marry a man and move across water. She assumed an ocean, but it was a river instead. :wah: I believe in the power of suggestion. One told my sister she would have an accident. She did. Was he playing the odds? Would she have wrecked if he hadn't said this? We'll never know.

Very similar to Koan here. Also psychic and a healer. I work part time in this field.

we went to one in Ireland, my husband had been there once before and everyone we know that has been to her also says that she's been accurate. She doesn't ask any questions, she just tells you things that she couldn't possibly know. I can't remember everything she told us but she did predict we'd have 2 kids, a boy and a girl, which is what we ended up having.
