What is your dream home?

I was just looking at The New York Times' article "What 3 Million Gets You." Homes

I love architecture of many kinds. Mainly victorian but I'm partial to others too. I have three dream homes....one is a Mansard victorian (Second Empire style) house, the kind you see in scary movies. The more rambling and forlorn the better.

Next is a Tuscan style sundrenched villa, painted a soft cream or a nice terra cotta color, up on top of a hill.

And finally an adobe style house like people with money have here in the southwest. The thick walls are pricey but they keep the house so much cooler in summer.

I like that third photo, Red.

My dream home-ah, I would never spend the money for it. I have my dream home, it is in LA, it was built from scratch. I will go back to it one day, I do not want more than that.

I've seen you say before Terri, that you like architecture. These stills are from an excellent BBC series, "How we built Britain". They show buildings from very old to modern..Some beautiful photos!

I thought I had my dream home once, but... nobody to share it with and sold it not so long ago... I'll get back to designing a new one eventually (MUCH smaller next time, though and I'll correct the things I didn't like about it... I have pics on one of my social networking accounts... it was a Georgian style brick house, though), but with a partner to plan and share it with next time.

If money were of no importance to the world I would want to live here...

And obviously drive this car...

God, oh God how I want that car...And that house...:wah:

But realistically I would love to live in a home like this...

The guy we co-own the shop with is building a Chevy Nova for a kid of a family friend...

Oh, that is so cool. You never thought the old car you had as a teenager would be worth alot today. I got that car free, my brother gave it to me when he got a little sporty car.

Yes...Reminds me of the times my father would tell me of all of the cars that he'd previously owned...He would have quite a collection...

I believe His best 2 cars that he had was a '58 Chevy Impala and a '57 Chevy 2 door hard top...Both brand new and in mint condition...

He had a 37 Ford as well...

Nothing extremely special but the ironic thing about it now is if he still had those cars in the exact same shape as he did back then along with a few others he would have well over $100,000 cash in them...

Good retirement money...:wah:

up in the Smokies. a log cabin. with 3 bedrooms. 2 full baths. 2 stories. all interier is made of logs. stairs and walls. with one wall towards the moutain view that is all windows. first and 2nd floor. with a rap around porch. with mother in-law cottage in the rear, for guest. i want see a water fall.

The third house is across the street from my sisters home. It looks much better than this picture. It was built in 1912 and has just be totally rebuilt, truly a beautiful house on one of the biggest parcels of land in Old Del Mar California. :-6

I've always loved the Southern plantation homes that have the huge columns out front, and wrap around porches.

I don't need much - 1500 to 2000 square feet tops - but Hiiiiigh ceilings. :-6 lots of windows & huge rooms. If it were just me alone, a one-room shack on 1/2 acre of land.

I found mine! Lucky hubby and I could buy it with cash and hold no mortgage. I live in a brand new 7 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home on 13 acres(in the woods). There are no neighbors (unless you count the wildlife) We moved from NJ to upstate NY.

I know someone who specializes in building very extravagant log cabins...If any of you are very serious about having one built for you I'll see what I can do to get you a very good deal...
