End of the common travel area

Post by Galbally »

This is not that big news, ( I mentioned that something like this was likely as well) but the UK government is putting quasi-border controls back on the border with the Republic of Ireland, and also stepping up controls at ports and airports on people coming from the ROI, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Mann. Our government is also doing the same thing. I don't mind so much, though its a shame this has to be done, though I can see the logic in a way. It should allow us to start contemplating joining up with the Shengen Agreement area, which would be very beneficial for Ireland. Anyway, any thoughts?
