Food for Thought

Post by QUINNSCOMMENTARY »

The US is preparing to send more food aid to North Korea, a dictatorship that sponsors and exports terror; virtually brain washes its people, isolates itself from the rest of the world, and spends vast sums on nuclear weapons and a military while its people starve. Why? It’s the humanitarian thing to do, you say, perhaps. But it also gives strength and support to the leaders and helps keep their grasp on the country. It may be harsh to say, but the reality is that little will change unless the people (including the military) are forced to make change and when it hurts enough they will. Why does the rest of the world keep enabling dictators? Would you intentionally give alcohol to an alcoholic?

Give me a better alternative (“talking” to Kim Jong ll doesn’t count). :-1

Isolating him has done worlds of good. :yh_eyebro

What would you have us do? You complain that he lets his people starve, then say we should do the same. Hey, maybe we should pull out of S. Korea, then when he attacks, that'll give us clearance to go in & take him out.

No doubt about it. We wouldn't give them the time of day if it weren't in our own self-interest. Something in it for us.

That's what I asked, what should we do. How do you (if one cares at all) change a dictator while you are supporting him?

That's the same as asking how do you get people off welfare if they have more income on welfare than they could earn.

That may be true, but how does that help deal with North Korea, assuming of course there is an issue worth dealing with.
