Homemade Frosty Paws for Dogs
If you've seen the Frosty Paws Ice Cream Treats for Dogs in the grocery store, this recipe makes a similar frozen snack for your dog.
Homemade Frosty Paws
1 quart vanilla yogurt (lowfat for our chubby friends)
1 medium banana
2 T peanut butter (natural style is good)
2 T honey
Puree the banana in a food processor (a blender would probably work fine). Add the peanut butter and honey and continue processing until smooth. Add yogurt and process just long enough to blend all ingredients together. Place 18 small paper cups (bathroom size) in a baking pan (one 9x13 or two 8x8 work well). Fill paper cups to about 2/3's full. An ice cream scoop or a measuring cup makes the job easier. Freeze until solid. Transfer the frozen treats to zip-lock bags for storing in the freezer.

Hi Malady,
Sure you can share it with anyone!
Uh, when you guys make these, please remember to make some for your dogs too! :wah:
Seriously though that is a nice thing about these- that you and your dog can share a snack together. :-4

Well I think it's really just the dog's own preference. Some dogs don't seem to like the Frosty Paws and some others love the stuff. Real ice cream isn't supposed to be too good for dogs so they say, so they made Frosty Paws with ingredients safe for dogs. But Frosty Paws is kind of expensive, I think it's about six or seven dollars for a box of four. This homemade recipe is safe for dogs and it's all natural and it's a lot more cost effective too. Plus humans can eat it too.
Good to see you Erin!

I wondered because my daughter puts ice cubes in the water dish in the summer and I knew my dogs would lick the icecream out of the bowls but thought most frozen food like the yougurt bars would be too cold for their mouths. Though they can always wait till they melt.
I like the recipe because the ingredients are those I have on hand.
Also I don't think vanilla ice cream is bad for most dogs. Chocolate isn't good for dogs but the amount of chocolate in icecream isn't much anyway even if they accidently get a a couple scoops.
Thanks, good to see you too Red Glitter!

Ooo i've never heard of frosty paws, but your recipe sounds good!
I'm not sure if my dog would like it tho...Hmm.
He's a small dog, but he has been known to lick some ice cream so he might like it.
Maybe i'll try it and let you know

I haven't tried making them yet, I would want to get some Bright Bites first so that I can feed one of those afterwards to the dog so they don't get cavities.

What are Bright Bites, KarmaDoodle?
Homemade Frosty Paws for Dogs
I remember how difficult it was to find valuable dog training information, how frustrated I was every time I applied the latest techniques to train my dog, without major success. Often I had to retrain her over and over again. It took me a lot of trial and error, but I finally learned all the best dog training techniques, and I applied them to my dog one by one with great success.

Bright Bites are a dental treat you can give your dog. They're designed to clean his teeth and gums while he chews. Mosby loves them!
An ice cream shop near me makes their own version of Frosty Paws called "Pup Pops." Such a cute idea for local ice cream shops to get in on!

I hope your dog likes them! My dog goes nuts for them
Just as with any treat that they chew on for a while, watch them with it the first time so you know they aren't trying to swallow the thing whole.
