Our Newest favoritist place!!

Post by WonderWendy3 »

Well, here is another "close to home" adventure report from your Wanna-be super hero!!

We have made friends with the guy that lives in front of us and he has two children (the little girl is VERY comfortable with us, she just walks in like she owns the place!!:wah:) And the Dad is actually from around here and knows his way around very well, I am from the "other side of town"....so the last two weeks have been a learning experience for me, not a good time to be exploring back roads with the gas prices as high as they are and not to mention my unemployment status....but thats not what I wanted to share with all of my garden friends....

Saturday afternoon, we ventured a WHOLE 3 miles away and found a nice little pond, with a stream on one side of the bridge and there is a retaining wall for the water to be restricted from flowing too heavily into the stream, and the kids went up under it like a waterfall!! They just LOVED it! We first took a walk to see if there was a nature trail, but there wasn't much of one, so then we went across the street to the stream, where the kids ended up getting in and whining when it was time to go!!

Needless to say, I was BUGGED all morning again until I finally got my stuff done (including a much needed nap....) and we went again, only this time, I left the Dad with the kids and me and the dogs took a hour walk....and came back to find the kids having as much fun as I left them having!!.....I've done did it now....we found our fun spot to go to, and the greatest part was the quiet evenings!! Whoo hoooooooo

I have pictures......will post them on the next post, so not to blow margins!!:-6:-6

Well it just goes to show that for a wonderful experience out you don't need to spend lots of money in some loud, crazy over the top place, but go visit some nearby nature and have as good if not better time that can keep everyone entertained without all the hassle and worry. :guitarist

Great story Wendy and I love the pics, glad you all had such a wonderful day! :-4

WTG Gurl! I will blind fold you and take you there, and then blind fold you when we leave.....everything will be just fine!

yes, the dogs and the kids had a blast!! The sunday trip was better for me, I went for about an hour walk up the street and figured out a short cut that I wouldn't have otherwise....so it worked out great and saw horses on the way that came right up to the fence to greet me and the dogs!

Now .......

Tell us more about this man 'you have been learning from:wah: Funny you should say something about that......I just found out tonight that he mentioned to my youngest son that if he were my boyfriend.... he wouldn't let me out of his sight for a minute and told him that he has a beautiful Mom!!:o:)(he had asked my son about my boyfriend and he told him that he lives far away....and that was his response) --Of course my youngest just tells me this tonight, and the man said this on Sat.....there isn't any sparks....he's a very nice man though and I can see a good friendship in the future between the two families, the kids really get along well.

Nomad;856719 wrote: A little "Heaven" place. It sure was nice, our own little paradise....I was concerned the whole time that we were trespassing, but its not posted and a few others go down there to fish and I was told people camp down there also....

Virginia is a Beautiful State, I have lived here for the last 23 years and love it, not thrilled about the cost of living, but the history and the state parks, rivers and lakes are just a few things in my back yard for my taking!:-6

Hey Chris!

I was telling the friend that took us down there that there is nothing like free entertainment!! We didn't drive far and we didn't have to pay anything to get in and it was more fun than the kids have had in a long while! It was good for all involved!

Thanks Chris, glad you liked them!:-6

You are a stinker!! that is for shure!!

I thought I'd post the pictures of the horses that I encountered on my walk, I was shocked that they came right up to the fence.....and even more shocked that my little shi-tzu didn't scare them away with all of his "I'm a big dog trapped in a little mop-like body" attitude!!:wah:

Here are the horses, taken on my camera phone so they aren't the best quality....
