Chevron posts record $18.7 billion profit

Who are the biggest idiots??? We all are..

1. While the world dreads Global Warming we starve people in poor countries so we can take their crops for bio-fuels.

2. Because of the war in Iraq and other ‘global issues’ the oil companies keep pushing up the price of oil and have everyone afraid of the ‘shortage’ and ‘the risks’

3. The price of oil and petrol (gas) keeps going up and up and up.

Yet, the all the oil companies recording their largest profits ever!!!

We just keep getting cr@pped on over and over again.

Chevron profits:

Exxon 'does it again' 12 billion in profit

Shell Oil: 13.9 Billion in profit:

We are being ripped off... everything you hear about shortages, risks, and all the fear is a lie!! Oil companies are profiting through the roof, while people stave to death so we can grow bio fuels.

It makes me sick!:-5:mad:

What should they do? Give it all back? They pick a good line of business to be in and when they start to make money we cry foul. Yeah, Gas/ Petrol prices are high; and those companies are making loads of green. They earned it. i know that if the situation were reversed, i would have no problem.
The poolhall's a great equalizer. In the poolhall, nobody cares how old you are, how young you are, what color your skin is or how much money you've got in your pocket... It's about how you move. I remember this kid once who could move around a pool table like nobody had ever seen. Hour after hour, rack after rack, his shots just went in. The cue was part of his arm and the balls had eyes. And the thing that made him so good was... He thought he could never miss. I know, 'cause that kid was me.

Maybe they should not be ramping up the street price of fuel - if they just stick to passing on the increase in cost their profit will remain static. The reason it is going up is that they are passing on more than their increase in costs in the price increase to the customer.

Isnt it their right to set prices as they see fit?

In a competitive market yes. If they are in a monopolistic position or running a cartel then no. Monopolies and cartels are two things no true capitalist wants to see or allow.

Oh yes it has and will be if a government decides that it is. Companies do not operate in isolation from the society around them nor are they a law unto themselves unless we are stupid enough to let them away with it.

This is outrageous in my opinion that oil business can make such a profit like this. But everyone on the planet who consumes oil products are to blame in some way. I spent 120 dollars on gas in 3 and half weeks and mostly for work commute. That doesn't include my daughter's gas guzzling car ( 14 miles per gallon) she uses to get around. What to do? Walk and bike to work? Get a job closer to home? Find another line of work that keeps you closer to home? All I know is it's not right or fair for this business to profit like this. The energy businesses should be in the hands of not for profit organization like other charitable foundations. Should be run by people who get a teacher's wage (or fair teacher's wage) and not be marketable. All countries should have equal rights to energy products.

What goes up, must come down eventually and hopefully soon. They have a right to make money but to be laughing all the way to the bank with 18 billion in profits is greed. They have us and they know it, that's the part that ticks me off all gas in San Diego is over $4.00 a gallon now. I just stay home and limit my trips to doing several stop along the way. It has to be a very big event to get me to drive far now Amen for my Honda Civic. :-5

I drive a civic and I'm not sure my gas mileage is that great.

Making that much profit on gas and oil is a crime no doubt about it. Whenever something like food or energy becomes that expensive those profiteers need to show some depth and compassion by realizing what they are doing is greedy. Make money some other way not by what others actually need to live. Though one thing I have to add is a lot of people would abuse energy if it weren't expensive. Could be the reason energy prices aren't affordable. Universe's way of protecting itself :)
