"Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars. Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, 'I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight', people would say, 'Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a damn word that comes out of his mouth.' " Michael Jackson

vi

It was created in 1976, I started using it in 1983. It's a rare day when I don't spend at least an hour in there. It's gone through several rewrites but it's always felt like the same program. It's where I prefer editing text. I wrote some code yesterday which takes specific emails as they arrive and posts them onto a blog, I did that in vi, it's what vi's good at.

There are two occasions when I don't dislike using a mouse, they when I'm using a CAD package or editing graphics. The rest of the time, if a program doesn't have keystrokes to do what I want it to do I use a different program. When I'm in vi I forget mice even exist. Keyboards are faster than mice, they don't break my concentration as much. Keyboards don't get in the way and vi's good at expanding what a key can achieve.

Actually, there is a game called Sid Meier's Pirates, and it is the only game that has kept me playing ALL NIGHT !!! Don't worry I'm in my second childhood ! But I find the internet generally fascinating and engrossing, so I really do not have any particularly favourite programme as I love them all. I would, however, be terribly upset if I should ever loose the ability to use Forum Garden, as it has brought me so much into my life ! Not least some absolutely terrific friends :) :D ;)

Eww Notepad!

Have you never considered an upgrade for that? One that at least keeps several tabbed files open at once?

Not sure I'd call it "treasured" but I really like my Microsoft Office suite.
